I think it would be VERY confusing for starting players on the very first day of the release to play commander. So I hope PTs will come around and play commander in the biggest NS servers, that wouldn't just be helpful, but it would also boost the ego of the people, and force them to stay and play instead of quitting or changing team.

i intend on commanding a lot the first couple of days. it will be hell most likely, but also rewarding as well.
i think some other guides will be helping as well.

we can expect that the marines' initial uncoordination will be equally shared on the Alien side. What I mean is alien players are not going to be used to fighting melee (unless they're ka_ players

), also they might be confused with other things. So it will all balance out.
Also, alot of people probably came to this mod because they saw an RTS so we can expect them to start commanding (they have RTS experience)

Also look for the
NS Guides to be around the servers helping you guys out!

Commander or Marine, you're still a part of the RTS. Without the marines, the Commander is useless, and without the commander, the marines are helpless, or must trust their instincts.
I love both parts. I've always wanted to play one of the units.
As for PT's being commander's the first time, I don't have anything against that idea. It was like the dev's of Master Sword took the players on questing, but perhaps there will be tons of servers? They can't be on all.
Myself, I will be playing a solo LAN game to get used to everything.

Nearly all of the PT's will be playing on release, that's a good 30+ active playtesters. It's doubtful you will be on a server without one, so don't worry, the guides and the PT's will definitely try to help you guys out on the first day.

i know the commanding LOOKS very similar to starcraft, but does it really work that way? i've played sc since it came out and am pretty good at multitasking bases, so would that mean i'd get used to commanding in ns pretty quick or is it a totally different experience? cuz i'd imagine that there'd be stupid llamas not listening to commands and doing their own thing (even tho they may not last long)

NS is all about great micro-management. It's essential to being a good commander.

If they start doing that, tell them that they have three choices. Keep up their behavior and thus keep dieing, smarten up and thusly get issued some better weapons, or at least if they must continue to go off alone be a god damned good scout and make it in your intrest to actuly keep them alive.
