Hi, i've just installed ns and am trying to play under steam. it all goes smoothly finds servers, loads up including all the precaching stages, BUT JUST AS A GAME SCREEN APPEARS THE GAME DISAPPEARS AND IM LOOKING AT MY DESKTOP!!!! CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO RESOLVE THIS. THANKS

Anyway:

Have you...

• Installed all updates (1, 4, 4a,) correctly, and in order?
• Tried playing another type of steam game? (Same error?)
• Run a steam game BEFORE installing NS?

More information such as how you are running ns ("connect" in target box, running steam and chosing NS, running ns from a shortcut,) your OS, and your system specs may be helpful. Please post them.

Sounds to me like a graphics issue, have you got the latest graphic drivers?

problem with CD. close CD before running the game.

Tech support forum would have told you that.
