I run several different modified versions of the game, all backed up in my Steamaps folder, the thing is, they all come up as "Natural Selection (Beta)" in the Steam game's list, is there a way to change the name of each backup file?

Ie: I want my AvP skinned Natural Selection to say "Natural Selection (AvP)" instead of "Natural Selection (Beta)"

Open liblist.gam in notepad and change the game name thing up the top.

Hmmm, shortly after this my game got weird... it worked for a bit and i went away to play SWG, came back, loaded up the game, one of the games was reset to natural selection (beta) so i played the one that was still correctly named and got the normal half life menu screen with gordon... then when i tried to join a NS game, it said my game.dll differed from the server's? Did this to several servers....

I meant "client.dll" by the way...

Anyways, i tried replacing the modded client.dlls with the one i used in my backup to no avail.... i have no idea what happened, so any ideas are greatly welcomed.

You cant join online games if youve got a different client.dll.
I thought that would be obvious :-P

And even if that was the case, im using the one that game with the game now anyways, but that doesnt change a thing.

Oh my, that was easy... whatever you do, make sure you have an "NSP" folder, haha... i renamed the different ones to help organize the mods and didnt have one...

i'd just like to point out that i found this thread useful since i've tried figuring out how to do the same thing. i fail to see how there was any spam, save for possibly when Strykar made multiple posts in a row instead of editting his previous post, but i don't think that deserved all the sarcasm from Bl/\ck_\/!p3r and if anything, Bl/\ck_\/!p3r, you were the one spamming. thank you and have a good day

First off this is a spam thread, not onle was the problem was asked in the wrong place to start...
But when the problem was answered someone started to bring up a totaly different subject, aka the client.dll problem...
And not only did this person bring up another subject but he double posted 2 different times, a big no no...
Im not tryin to be mean or start any problems, but when he said that about me i got mad, and flamed him over him spaming his thread...
