I had heard about NS a couple of months ago.  I saw a post in a chat room last night and decided to check it out.

To the NS team and playtesters - Thank You!  This is a remarkable achievement!  I can't believe this is the HL engine.  The art and ambience are excellent!  I can't believe this is free!

I was an occasional CS player but I think this will be much more fun for me,  I think I'm going to need a new mouse..

Titanium Johnson here, from around Raleigh, NC. Picked up on NS from a posting on EvilAvatar.com just prior to its release. Was enough to get me interested, and when I really read up on it, more than interested me...turned into a must have.

Haven't had a chance to play for more than a few minutes yet, but wife is working tonight, so will be game time! Can't wait!

Wow this MOD is growing quickly and suprisingly. I own a lan store called Digital Xtreme, so I have played almost every game on the face of the earth, and I like what this mod has going for it..I dont know if any of the team has played or play FLF but I meant I guy on there that said he was part of this project, dont know if thats true or not...Lair or not thats how I first heard of your game.. If you any of the team did play you would have know me **obscenity** Type-R or ZeroArmy... I'm Justin Pereira, I've spent nearly my entire life using computers, and I've spent a large portion of that playing computer games. From commadore 20 games to trade wars to doom to the command & conquer series, half-life, counter-strike, and now Natural Selection, with others in between.

I was born in Jacksonville Florida, and I've moved a few times and now I'm in Maryland, still on the East Coast USA.

A friend of mine who's a huge HUGE counter-strike fan told me a little about NS after discovering it himself and convinced me to download the HL update and the mod itself, and reinstall half-life (quite a bit for a 56k modem). It was and still is the best thing that's ever come to half-life, and probably the best gaming experience I've had so far. im a new NS player but have played HL, CS and many other half life mods for quite a while...

I found this mod on Gamespy Arcade and thought to myself, 'well i dont remember seeing that HL area before, so I went to planet half life and started reading about this mod and i must say, im impressed.

im downloading this mod at the moment 95% complete as soon as its done im loggin into GSA to play this right away... i cant wait

also its looks to me like this has a pretty good community, bit like how FA used to be... till it just got full up with llamas who just spammed the forums and made the games unbearable, hope it doesnt happen to this community

once again, i hope i enjoy this mod.. (which i know i will do... walking on walls and cielings, gotta be a first ey?)

Well, hello. I'm known as Aacheron, and I go by that name everywhere (for example Battle.net, EZ-boards, AvP 2, almost all other boards I go to, etc). So, if you see someone called Aacheron, usually ranting on some Warhammer 40.000 board, it's bound to be me.

I've played (through) - among others - Half-Life, HL - OpFor, HL - Blue Shift, AvP, AvP II, Deus Ex, Giants, Tribes II, etc. I'm also a huge fan of RTS games, and here's a brief list: Age of Empires, AoE - Rise of Rome, C&C - Red Alert, StarCraft, SC - Brood War, Empire Earth, Dungeon Keeper 2, Emperor - Battle for Dune, etc. An oddity amongst my game experiences is Sacrifice - a game that combines a limited amount of FPS-bits with a whole host of RTS features.

So you could say I know FPS and RTS games by heart...


I'm relatively new to HL mods in general, though. NS seems to be a good game (though horribly bug-ridden). Oh, well... it's still a very new game, so bugs are to be expected.

I didnt know this massive thread existed. Oh well. Now I do.

Im from Canada >:\ Sadly enough. If this was the USA I would have a new computer a job and everything. Until I can somehow smuggle myself into there, Im stuck with being poor. Know that I cant play well because of the extreme lag (usually 1 fps or lower) NS tends to cause after construction of buildings (They must be MASSIVE Poly.) So dont expect to see me playing on any servers.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention: I'm Finnish - and proud of it! Just so you know...

C&C renegade, redalert, redalert2, tiberiumsun, aftermath.... Sid meirs civil war collection (gettysburg! and Antidam!) awesome games, starfleetcommand II, new worlds, star craft, broodwars, stronghold (awesome game)... the rest i dont play anymore...

Hello. My name's WarpZone, and I am the antithesis of a mad leet gamer. I own Half-Life, yes, but vanilla deathmatch bores the crap outta me. I was able to tolerate TFC a little bit, and then I really got into SvenCoop, and now NS has pried me away from that mod. NS is great fun, when you find a server with no **obscenity** playing.

I have that creative bug, and I like to start making maps. I also type way more than I need to, both in-game and on forums.

Favorite moment: I dove into a room full of turrets on NS_HERA and started circling all around, trying to find a nice niche to eat the factory from, or failing that, at least distract the marine in the room and do a little damage to various structures before I died. After about a solid minute of my squirming, he manages to finish off my last 3 hit points. Me: "Nice shot." Him: "It's called skill, and I'm made of it!" Fellow alien: "[team] Lol this guy is hillarious."

Hey all. I am new to this forum (brand-spanking new!) and the greatest thing happened last night that I want to share with everyone... I downloaded Natural Selection. HOLY BANTHA POODOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I downloaded it at 7:00 pm and the next time i looked at the clock it was 11:45 PM and I didn't know Where or WHO I was!!! This game is awesome, as all of you at these forums know. I played with some really great people too. It was nice to see a good, solid community has already formed considering the game has only been released since halloween. One draw-back from CS and Day OF Defeat is the amount of jerks there are. Anyway, I dont want to make this lovely post negative. I just wanted to say hey and let everyone know I am here and that I am going to be here a lot!!! This game rocks! PM OR IM ME!

Hi ppl, I'm another Carl. I heard about NS from a friend of mine that I have regular LAN parties with. We have all-day saturday LAN parties every two weeks at our office building so we're always on the lookout for new games to try. This saturday will be NS and I have the feeling it'll become a regular staple :o)

Not bad considering the competition is DoD, CS and WC3.

I love the Alien movie series and I was freaked out completely while playing the original Aliens mod: ALiens Quake. AvP I also found scary so I'm looking forward to being the nasty alien this weekend

I have the impression this game will really take off. I've been wondering when a game would come out that featured RTS and FPS blended together. The technology's been around for a long time but no one seems to hit on a way to pull it off. Congrats to them team and don't be surprised when a dozen hit games come out that feature clones of your idea! (Hopefully yours will be one of those games)

Anyways, I'm new here. I started playing NS when a guy in my World War 2 Online squad recommend it. So far I really like it, organization is king! I think playing World War 2 Online has gotten me spoiled on team work and organization. As I tire of that game NS is filling the gap very well.

I've always been a fan of good FPS games. All the way back to Quake 1 and Threewave CTF and Team Fortress back then, to TFC with Half-Life.

hey all, I'm new as well, pretty much. My name's Malak. I'm 15, and I found out about Natural Selection from a friend at my school's awake-a-thon (not really a race or anything, just an overnight stay at the school, there was anime (I l like very much), video games (right here is where I saw NS), and dancing (never danced, and I need not care for such embarassing gestures). I've got some strange oddities for a kid. I got natrually chromatic hair, mako-blue eyes (pupils are a "royal blue" color), extreme strength (doctor says too much for my body to handle after doing a test in which I benched 650 lbs.), and an occasional rage that gives me the scent of crude machine oil, the feel that my heart and blood is burning inside me, and a tendency to annihilate everthing in sight every time the moon is red (strange but true).

Despite my "Dark side", I have a knack for art (I love drawing and I might draw some stuff to submit to the site), I've got some exp in Adobe Photoshop. I play piano, and soccer (called football outside the states), and I like building anything electronic from toasters to robots.
