Hi this is my first post here but Ive been following NS from May I think, and I first saw it long before that. This mod will most likely be the best halflife mod ever and I can´t wait to play it. I am also very much interested in the upcoming russian front mod, and if you visit those forums some day you will see just how interested I am

Hey ho.
First post on these forums, I've been hanging out on the
Day of Defeat forums for years and been idling in IRC for just as long. Been watching this mod at a distance for some time now, but only recently developed a very keen interest in NS (Thanks a lot Creme...)
I beta test for
HLRally and I am looking forward to NS just as much.
I am currently doing a multimedia course and I have a lot of knowledge of graphic design and 2D art.
I believe thats about it.
Look out for me on irc in: #dod as a peon, #hlrally as an op (OBEY THE RULES ######) and #ns as a lowly nobody

EDIT: Oh and I'm planning an NS map, here's hoping I find the time to make it

And ive als been waiting in suspense everyday wondering if this would finally be the day the mod would be released. (Im completely tired of d/ling new mods which i play for bout 2 hours then dump, im bored of Starcraft, Diablo 2, and Tribes 2, and the usual tormening of th public in GTA 3 is fun every now and then it does get repettative.)

You sir, need StepMania! Not only is it a spiffy way to pass the time, but assign the directions to W,A,D,S and you can literally practice dodging in FPS style!
Hell, asign player 2's controls to the Arrow keys and do double mode! Practice becomming ambidextrous!
Work yourself up in practice until you can beat the F-Zero X song on this page:
http://www.ddrmaniax.net/dwi_index.php?mix=bemanirulerHere's the link to get the actual game:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/stepman....ownload (Choose a server and it'll download)
Here's the link for songs for the game:
http://www.ddrmaniax.net/ (The SimFile section)
There, have fun all. Thanks to JediYoshi for enlightening me to this spiffy DDR game! =D

Hiya all, as you can probably see by my postcount I'm new to the NS forums - I was having a look at the new Tour of Duty mod when I saw someone mention (praisingly) Natural Selection.. So I checked a few websites and eventually found the official URL. What can I say? I'm determined that this game may infact change the way we see FPS games, especially the Teamwork factor.
Just like to say good job so far to the Devs, and playtesters.. I know how hard it can be to work on an extremly large project, and the pressures of releasing on time etc.
Past few months I have been doing a gaming league project covering some of the best fps games, and it was successful to say the least. (almost 6,000 callsigns and 550+ teams signed up). im now working on another gaming league, dedicated to larger scale games such as JK2, CS, DOD and now NS.
It's still in the works, but now after reading up on NS I am discussing features that would help make the league a success.. So suggestions are always a warm welcome!
Good to see you all,
Rafe

Welcome Rafe, nice to see someone literate and posting in the correct place. All you new people, be sure to check out the NS IRC channel too, #naturalselection on gamesnet. Theres a link on www.readyroom.org if you would like to use a java IRC client.
Oh yes, and I would point you to talk to Parse_Error, who is currently developing an integrated Clan listing and NS ladder system.
Welcome again.
Rafe
Aug 14 2002, 05:09 PM
Thanks for the reply, I will look into talking to Parse about this, see what happens

www.bqleagues.com , www.bqlforums.com , www.battle-quest.net , www.battle-quest.com and www.bq-forums.com were some of the urls of the past league, incase you wanted to look at the work.
The new league is set to be
far superior to BQL, under the name of StarLance Gaming Leagues (www.starlance.com).
However its not the looks of the league, or the scripts, it is the leadership.. and that is truly hard to find, especially a devoted team of admins who can do the job.

NS won't just be on FP, as we have already discussed many times. MonsE has plenty of mirrors lined up for the release.
Rafe
Aug 15 2002, 07:51 PM
I don't think hes saying that FP will be the only place to download it - I think he means that most download areas will be low on bandwidth after the initial release, and hes just saying FP tends to be seriously slow with its ques
If I was a high speed connection I would be more than willing to put it on my dedicated server to help aid the release.

Howdy. Me is new around here.
Im in Scotland, UK and found out about the mod through BY. (UK g.s.p..), anyhow it is looking seriously impressive. Nice change from the usual by the look of things.
btw, are you going to release NS only through downloads or will it be available on magazine coverdiscs , PC gamer etc..?
I only ask because 80 megs or whatever is gonna take a loooong time if you're a 56k peasant like myself...

Howdy Hamster (you don't really thought anyone would write your name, right?)
Welcome to the Forums, read all the FAQs and remember:
It's done when it's done!
I think it's a question of popularity if NS gets on Cover-CDs or not. The first release is probably not on a CD unless Flayra & Co. have VERY good contacts... but later versions will surely make their way into Magazins I think...

Ello, I'm new to these forums, but I've followed Natural Selection for a month or two now.. so I know some stuff and won't see me asking when it's gonna release
I'm from California, but I'm movin' soon up to Idaho (Argh).. anyways, I heard of this mod in PHL when they posted some sweet lovin' pics

Hopefully I'll get to know you guys and have fun playin with yas when it comes out..

Welcome Longdale, It's always good to see new members
Be warned that the "I have been following this mod for ages, but only just decided to join" has been used a bit to regularly recently. However, I'm sure that this time it's true
Anyway, if you have been around for a while there is no need to warn you to read the FAQ's and such like.
Hope to see you become a good and active member of the NS community

Hello all.Thanks for the welcome.
I won't pretend to have been following the progress of NS for ages. Hardly heard about it till the day I signed up here. I seem to remember a preview in PC gamer but thats about it.
Just followed a link posted in BY by HotSoup (well played btw..), liked the look of it and signed up on the spot.
Still,at least I managed to read the FAQ and NOT post "The Question Which Shall Not Be Spoken"..
Well, not here anyhow..
Anyway, I think I'll attempt a go at mapping. Got the NSTR, just started teaching myself worldcraft (Day 1- the empty square room...).but I have a bit of art training and I like to think of myself as a quick learner, so I might have something to show y'all in, say a year..
If not, it should be an interesting/ horrendously frustrating learning experience for me..
Anyhow, I look forward to loitering around here a fair bit..
