I did some spriting (actually just 1 sprite), and decided that I should start something a bit more advance such as modelling. So I downloaded Milkshape 3D, and I'm just curious if you would post models created from using Milkshape, just to see how powerful this program is.

Want to see a really "powerful" model?
Take a look
here.

Or take a look at

you can do just about anything in ms3d, sure 3dsmax has the tools, but ms3d is still a brilliant program. I do all my work in milkshape 3d with modelling, never stepped foot in another modelling program. Heres a preview of my latest work in ms3d (been modelling for a year or so)

udderone that was answered when we first noticed it
he made his 4000 post saying the word "post" 4000 times so the admins got mad and gave him a negative post count
yes milkshape is a good program but it lacks rendering all the renders you saw were done in other programs milkshape is also kinda slow compared to 3dsmax

I personally use 3dsmax, i hate milkshape and its inferior method of having to paint vertexes individually and then linking them together as faces..in 3dsmax its much easier, and produces much better outcome imo.

LOL! no one does that in ms3d, i know you can but that's the dumbest thing ever, you take a cube, or cylender, depending, and you extrude sides ;] lol painting the verteces lol i only done that once, on a delorean model, everything else you cube n extrude ;]

myself included, sometimes you need to create faces, or vertices but never a full mesh that way

hmmz, so far all my models (www.dark-soul.tk) were made using nothing but Milkshiet, and for low poly models it's a great program
if you wanna do some more high poly models i suggest you learn 3dsm, something i should do as well

ms3d IMO is not the best modeler, but it is a great middle-man for getting your models ingame. it has lotsa stuff that makes it easier, specially the mdl decoders. However, i think max is a superior program, and learning it makes it easier to learn other 3d apps. Go with max to start, but get milkshape as well.
He was made with max:

Jun 19 2004, 05:39 AM
He is also 9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 polys, which makes max bad :o

For modelling guns and other simple objects, yeah, poly-by-poly is best. But for characters, or anything curvy, primitives+extrusion is best.
Milkshape has held me up through about 22 gun models and one car. It's an okay program.

what now? dr fuzzy, polies dont matter when something isnt for a game.

Jun 19 2004, 07:32 AM
hmm....I'd have to go with the truth to the modeling method discussion, which is there is no one answer for how you model. there are all kinds of methods to modeling out there and all of them can be used for all kinds of different things. some people work better different ways. milkshape is a modelling program meant for low-poly, which means there really isn't a lot it needs to be able to do, but the workflow is clumsy for certain. it isn't ideal, but it IS all you need.
yes, I am unsurpassably anal about generalizations.

all in ms3d, all for www.wotamod.com.
ps, paint verts is so
not noobish. you get the most control. combine it with boxmodeling and you can make pretty awesome models.
oh, and good luck to you in your future milkshape3d modelling, I hope you can learn how, and not quit.
