We each have different fields of expertise, for instance I've been writing the script and creating some of the models, others have been creating sound and music for us as well as the props we'll need. The project is pretty much to the stage of filming, with all the custom characters modelled, and the script complete. The script is essentially complete (Though it may still be tweaked). Instead of making the equivalent of a recorded game, we went for a Hollywood-style storyline. We're not expecting to win any Oscars for it, but we're definitely looking to make history. We also have music people and the like, all we need now are the animators.
We intend to film a 'raw footage' take inside the Half-Life game engine, then export this to 3dsm where the standard models will be switched for our own characters, as well as special effects and props being added in. This should reduce production time severely, as battle sequences will require very little alteration. The 'game playing' side of it is just to get the character's basic movements. All the proper animation takes place in 3dsm. We realize this is a serious undertaking. By "filming" the movie in-game, tnen just using 3dsm for lighting and refinement, we're hoping to cut out most of the production time.
However, that said, we do need to create the first scene without using the special exporting software (this is a condition of the person providing said software, as he doesn't wish to be associated with a project that might fail). This is what we currently wish for help on, then anyone who might wish to continue to assist with the rest of the movie would be free to do so.

P.S. As an example of what we've done so far, here's a few poster kinds of things design to show our work in progress.
