I'd like to see someone make a pack that did high res skins for the default models. I like quite a few of the default models, esp. for the shotgun, GL, and HMG. I was just wondering if anyone can/has worked on making better looking skins, while still retaining the feel of the defaults.

My only real beef with the defaults is the coloring.

It'd be great to have one common look to all of the marine weapons, players and structures other than what comes with the original mod, and this would seem to be the easiest way to do it.

I just wish that I knew the first thing about skinning and had the free time others have confused.gif

high res pack is coming, we need conceptors though so we can see the details better.

If you search i think BlackPanther came out with around 13 high poly models.

The req isn't really for higher poly models, it's a req for higher resolution skins on the default models. All you really need to do one is find someone to re-skinmesh the defaults and then have someone make them 512x512 skins.

making high poly models r just stupid, instead of making better skins that makes it look exactly as good as the high poly models, thats just idiotic IMO.

Less players will be able to use it, shame shame

I agree with you ZeroByte, high-res skins on the current models would be neat, since they're quite nice, just a little bit low-res skinned, thats all.

Personally, I'd like high poly and high resolution skins. But don't waste polies on beefing up what's already there. Add stuff to the defaults! Expand on them a bit.
ZeroByte
Well... I wouldn't go as far as calling it idiotic. Skin detailing can only go so far. Higher poly models can add way more details than skins can ever do em. However, I will root for high-res skins on the default models cause my machine sucks, so high poly stuff will kill me. Also, I love the feel of the defaults. They're pretty unique.

That's just ignorance. There are certain things that cannot be skinned on. Though a re-vamp of the skins would be nice, giving them more depth would be better.

besides by high poly we only mean high-er. Nothing too special but good enough.

if somone would produce a high-definition skin for the default TF, my high(er) poly TF would love you... i've got WIP shots of it, but they are ugly because they use the default textures...

high def skins first, then make the models for the skins (IMHO)
