My friend showed me a picture of her father's handgun
and I decided it looked pretty cool, so I decided to model
it.

I haven't made any progress on it yet, but I want to
see if there's any interest in this gun as an in-game model?
Should I bother with making it somewhat low-poly so that it
can fit in to NS?

If it's not at an acceptable polycount, you can't use it in-game.

Not everyone has a computer that can handle that. And yeah, go for it, cfocfo, the picture looks awesome.
