I love this game and have been playing since the first couple days when it came out. I recently stopped playing for a month or more because of AP exams and my senior year coming to an end. I dont think I missed that many updates, but when I launched Steam and allowed it to update and tried to play NS, I get a "client.dll does not matter server's" message. Like I said before, I love this game want to get it working again. I tried manually installing the newest version from natural-selection.org, but that didnt work, so I went back and reinstalled the 3.0 beta 1 complete and then updated to the newest one again. Still I get the same message. Can someone send me a site that I can dl the .dll from or just email it to me? Please someone help, AP's are over and I have less than 2 weeks of classes left and am dying to start playing again. Till then, I guess I will have to live with the smilies that are so cool. PLEASE someone help get me back in the game.

1) Install Steam
2) Play HL atleast Once via Steam
3) Install NS V3.0 Beta 1
4) Install NS V3.0 Beta 4
5) Install NS V3.0 Beta 4a
Search your HDD for a folder called nsp.
if you have more than one you messed up. try again.
if you folow these steps properly you will not get client.dll or map.msp errors.
If you are positive you have folowed them corectly then redownload the installer form a different location.

if you did a search youd find a whole barrage of topics saying that you have an old version. read up on it first before posting in future.

No viper, Thansal is right. My version is the new version but in the process of updating, the updater did not overwrite the old .dll. The host that I try to connect to is reading my version as the old one, because the old .dll exsists alongside the new one. Like you said, read up before you post.

AlienGI, I am assuming English is not your primary language (if it is , then we might be able to explain why you have problems with steam. If it aint, then your post is perfectly fine)
and yes, if you ever want to play HL2 online its via steam.
and there is nothing wrong with steam, there is ONE (count em ONE) extra step to install via steam vs Won....
