Hi,

I've got a great microphone that works fine in teamspeak, ventrillo etc using the same codec as HL (speex same quality) but in HL it doesn't work.

I figured out from the afformentioned programs that it sounds crap with directsound but fine with wave. How can I change this option in HL.

Thanks,

Meto

That sounds like it would be with Dsound so better make that a 0?

cheers I'll give this a try!

Seems I was wrong :/

Codec = Speex 7.2kbit used in HL and teamspeak.

Teamspeak: Crystal Clear
HL: Sounds slurred and most words are impossible to understand

Can someone post a link to the old sound configuration program that came with CS or a complete voice guide. I've tried tweaking the settings by trial and error (and nearly all of them at some point now) and had no luck.

I really want voice because it's much easier to com.

hopefully someone will tell me how to update it automatically but I mention the things that work for me when I am playing: http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/in...showtopic=70829

The common stuff is:
voice_dsound 0
cl_cmdrate 99999
cl_rate 99999
cl_updaterate 99999

I don't know why they work but it seems to do the trick.....

I have similar settings yes. Stopped me cl_cmdrate 10 h4xing tounge.gif

It's something else. I sound like I am talking through a sock in HL but perfectly clear with same codecs in other programs.

Any other settings?

I've tried nearly all the voice_ things.
