First of all: this should be in the Mapping help subforum...

OK, do you see the green middle line in the editor? The horizontal one? That's the commander height. So if you build right on that line you will see very close to the map. If you lower your map the comm view height will increase.

You need to set the commander view height in the info_mapinfo entity, which you should have in your map.

Put that entity anywhere in your map, then goto properties and change the "View Height (for commanders)" value from 0 to a better height (z value).

Use your x\z and y\z views to get an idea of where you want the view height to be. It may take a little trial and error, but you'll get there, eventually.

*EDIT: By the way, do NOT do what Naigel suggested. This is because "bad things™" could happen and it's a very poor way of approaching the situation. The setting for commander view height is in info_mapinfo for a reason. smile.gif

and how hard is it to take two seconds and see if the comment you just made is in any way useful?

for real: There is also a mapping forum FAQ that has a link to the mapping guidelines, which is just piles and piles of ns mapping information all well linked and documented at your fingertips. You should be able to find all of it in the stickied threads in the Mapping Forum section.
