I always imagined that by the time we reach the time that NS is set in we will be using the metric system, so we won't have any of this .50 caliber malarkey, it'll be more like the 10mm caseless or whatever they have in Aliens.

yes, pistol ammo is way different from actualy ammo. the pistol is closer range, so they tone down the cartridge for more accuracy at close range and less recoil. take the m1 garand and the m1 carbine. they are both 30 caliber. buuut the m1 carbine has a much skinnier and smaller cartridge. that pistol was specially made to use the 50 cal full size, and i dont want to be breaking my wrist. and its just plain hideous.

I go for performance over looks, so I can overlook the *shudder* ugliness, but yeah...that thing will definetely reduce your wrist to calcium splinters.

Meh .50 Cal BMG fireing pistol would be cool but only for 1 shot, cos you wont have an arm left 2 try it again but about .50. The Desert Eagle can be found in .357 .44 Magnum and in .50 AE (Action Express) and in .41 Magnum (not currently in production). The .50 AE round is much smaller than the .50 cal BMG (Browning Machine Gun) which is 12.7 MM x 99 MM Nice way 2 pop the engine from yar friends car . The M2 Machine gun fires the .50 Cal BMG ( I want 1 of those in my back yard )

uhm.. birdmans 50 cal its not a fake weapon,its firing the .50bmg round. it got a huge recoil brake that takes away lots of the punch, but still it got a heavy recoil, it wont rip your arms off..
i got some videos where it gets fired, and birdman have done a funny promo video himself where he fires it, with a nice blueboxed atomar detonation..the only thing thats faked on the video just for the fun factor lol

It's an offspring of the Barret .50 cal sniper rifle... meant for em to use should they encounter close in targets... I think they forgot that the human arm can't withstand 5000 PSI of pressure being rammed into it... 0o;

I think that the most powerful pistol caliber ever made is the new S&W's 500 magnum, a little bit more than .454 casull. In a tactical situation, these calibers are usually not used because they are too slow.

I know that some pistols like the contender or the lone eagle are using calibers that are usually used for rifles. The lone eagle can shoot 30-06 bullets!
