What I'm talking about is all the lame, trash taking, taunting opposing team members of a pub game. They completely RUIN this game for me! After every F-ing kill they have to type "HAHA'. WTH is that? Ever heard of good sportsmanship?! You win some, you lose some. Do I type "HAHA' after every kill?? No. It gets tired, FAST.

Anyways, I'm looking for a way to disable ALLCHAT. Or specifially, a way to mute the opposite team.

To mute there voice if all talk is on you can hold tab, click the mouse, then bring the cursor to the voice symble to the right of the players stats. Then click and the icon should change to a circle with a slash through it.

If you are talking about the typed stuff then I dont know jsut play on different servers.

I'm talking about type.

And the 'tab' button only works for your teamates.

hud_saytext_time 2 (where 2 is the number of seconds it will stay on screen)

Best idea is to just get another server. We are not all lamers you know.

Chat *can* be important, don't turn it completely off!

I have no choice. Idiots are ruining the game for me.

It's the idiots that refer to "non-voluntary anal intercourse"(That's the very nicest way to say it, if that's out of line just edit it out mods...) every single time they win or loose that annoy me most. Voice chat and text messages are very usefull in NS and should not be removed, just go to another server where they tend to say more relevant things to game play and less annoying garbage.

But I've already mentally banned myself from 2 servers, whose names I will remain anonymous or not if you really want to know.

Apart from filtering away alot of cheaters, cheating-death will also filter away people to stupid /lazy to use the program, which is likely the same people who are annoying, maybe try playing on a cheating death server and see if that helps a little?

Hehe, it seems my tactics are working.

Nothing is better than taunting those skulks (who had bitten you to arse just moments ago) to leave the server by saying such meaningless lines.

it's sad that so many servers are like that.

simple fact is it's the same in every single game

easiest solution is to find a server /servers on which there are regular admins who will keep things under control

best way of doing this is hopping on irc and joining popular clan servers - they *tend* to be the best quality... just create your own favourites list of servers that are worth playing on

my NS server list consists of 4 servers... i have slots on 3 of them, so i can always get a place, and the 2 i'm not admin's on are extremely well adminned.. i'm not going to paste ip's here cause thats lame advertisement (and they are UK based - i'm assuming that you're american? simply because majority of people here are)

try TacticalGamer.com [FF on | CD], or LinuxMonster, both have mature players.

Don't know where you play, but here in Europe that's hardly an issue at all. Sad to hear it's a problem in the servers where you frequent.

Anyways, isn't it possible to set different display times for team_say and regular say? Just set the latter to 0, or 0.1 or so.

meh, I've gotten into arguments with the other team, most of it centering on "OMG H4X" or "XENO IS SOOO F@%&ING ****".
That stuff I hate. Pointless, repetitive gloating I also hate...however I also think a little bit of trash talk is ok, if not fun. It gets your blood boiling, makes you play better, gets you into the game, etc. If you really hate it sure block chat, but I always think it's fine for, say, a gorge to say "lol pwned!" if he web-spits two jps to death . Which I have seen done.

Anyone with ethics knows where the line is, just don't cross it.

Never really seen the opposing team mouth of in a game of NS. The most annoying thing I see regularly is "OMG <X> is s ofreakin over-powerered!!!11".

I remember seeing a guy with and automatic taunt script after each kill...
something like : Nub!

like someone else said Lunixmonster is a good server,i play there(just won my first comm game)
if you really cant stand playing with other people in pubs,hop on #nspug
and get a game going

Old Fogies is a pretty mature place to play. They permban for swearing.

Totally agree with you, although I have noticed an increase in these morons since the latest release (inevitable i suppose) just ignore them, ADHD feeds off your retaliations (if you do) the less response they get the chances are they will leave eventually.

Also play around on different servers, find yoursel a nice new home there are plenty of great servers out there, with regular admins around also. Dont get disheartend, just play around and be dirty

If all talk is on then you can mute the opposing side, if people from both sides are talking and you can't mute them they probably have some obnoxious admin / reserved slot holders plugin for a few people to be able alltalk. I know it is wierd but I have seen it, there is nothing more obnoxious, just leave.

I have no problems muting spammers, but I have a plea to pls not just mute people if you think they are young, because some females and young players like commanding, and it makes it difficult if half (or more) of the team has you muted.

Those alltalk servers are rare, besides my problem it not so much what is spoken over the mic, I'm looking for a way to block text from the opposing team.
