Necrosis

Win XP
Celeron 2.20 GHz
192 MB RAM

9 gig free on my 19 gig primary
2 gig free on the 19 gig NS drive

One of those combined SIS 650 graphics cards

Latest drivers
Latest DX
Latest NS

For some reason when I play through Steam I lose a lot of textures, things go transparent, I fall through holes in the map, my ping goes through the roof and FPS through the floor. Lights don't blend, they throw blocky highlights

When I'm running beta 3 in non steam HL (the old copy NSP folder and paste into HL folder trick) everything works fine.

Anyone any suggestions? I know the SIS is a crap card but I find it dubious that I can run AvP2, BF1942, and a host of other games, including non-steam NS and HL........... but for some reason Steamed HL and NS just go berserk.

Help? Any other information you need?
Necrosis
Played a bit more - water doesn't have that transparency effect anymore.

Its like all the effects have died under Steam, but work in normal NS??
DragonMech
Is this on one particular server, or on every one? If it's only on a certain server, that server is most likely missing some entities.
Necrosis
Its on every one I've played so far... which isn't many, since it makes the game virtually unplayable.
