Wow, you guys are quick! wink.gif

I know what you mean; I wish I could add ambience where there was none, but that would require changing the maps themselves. Some maps (caged, hera, tanith, nothing, bast, etc) use lots of ambience, while others like veil, nancy, lost, and most co maps tend to be more minimalistic.

I've playtested lots to make sure all my sounds fit the context. It was hard since some, like howl2.mp3, are set up to loop in one map, but only play once in others.
Delarosa
maybe hook up with a mapper (bijiy?) to set you up a test room so you can set looping/trigger sounds...

something like the SvenCo-Op map with the buttons/pity would come to mind...

Anything with Marr on it gets my approval.

Spetsnaz:
As stated in my previous thread, I was planning on doing another recording session for my vox pack earlier this month. Unfortunately, I came down with a fever and had to cancel. I'll let you guys know when my vox project resumes; it shouldn't be long.

In the meantime, I've been messing around with various distortion plugins so it should sound good when finished.

dodgyman_00:
Hey...chill out, man.
Spetsnaz
good i look forward to it!

i just tested out most of your sounds in different maps, very scary even tho i was laning it and no one was on the server still made me turn around and check my 6

I've gotten every version of these packs. I honestly think they should be a REQUIREMENT for every NS-er. They've extended the life of my gaming experience 10-fold, because of how downright amazing they are.

Once again, using smile.gif

This is quality work. It'd be sweet if all maps used more sounds... so it'd be great if this pack were worked into an official release, then maybe map makers would be spurred to take advantage of what is at their disposal :)
Chrono
you should go post these sounds on the mapping forums too so people can use them when they make their maps smile.gif

im getting static in the new beta, is that normal confused.gif
Marr
Yeah! Forums are back up.

darkflame_666:

Static? No, not normal at all. I did a bit of playtesting over the weekend and everything performed well. Can you give me a specific example (map/place name)?

By the way, you know that combat map with the hive that resembles bast's Engine hive? Well, a looping static sound plays there, and I still can't figure out which file that is. I've combed pak0.pak with my HLMV (and of course, all the sounds under the nsp directory), but no dice. If anyone can tell me what file that is, I can go ahead and stick in a replacement.
darkflame_666
I get the static when im using Team Speak confused.gif
Marr
I've noticed that my pack is kind of annoying on the bast remake. Either I set some engine/reactor sound volumes too high, or the map is playing them at an elevated volume. Either way, I heard some nasty clipping when I ran around Refinery Hive.

Also, the siren that plays in the ready room drives me nuts, so I'll change/reduce that.

BTW, I heard some more default HL sounds in Lost today. I'll have to create some replacements and add them for the next release.

darkflame_666:
Have you tried playing with teamspeak off? I would imagine that the sounds from NS combined with the sounds from teamspeak are maxing out your sound output, causing clipping to occur. The HL voice comm system avoids this by suppressing the in-game volume whenever somebody speaks.
Marr
-Updated top post with 4.1 info.
-Added 4.1 download URL.

This is a minor update to rectify some issues on certain maps (mostly bast, lost, & nancy).
darkflame_666
damnit I loved the screeching alarm. Damn you idiots that dont want realism, do you expect alarms to sound like a freaking tropical paradise, no, there loud and in your face, change it back mad.gif
Vash_Fourty_Five_Lc
I've used smatterings of your packs before Marr, I just upped and installed the full pack on this one since I've always been pleased with your work. Glad to see you fixed it up, just wish I could hear it all... Steam don't like me right now.... sad.gif
