Full Version: Widescreen Issues

I have a 17" widescreen monitor (laptop). I have my resolution set to 1440x900 (widescreen) and when in commander mode, the font is weird sometimes. The font for telling you how much res you currently have is weird and the label on the Logout button is in the bottom right of the button, only partly showing. I believe those are the only two issues.

I wasn't able to test whether it is the resolution or the monitor, sorry.

[EDIT]
Attached is a screenshot. The full screenshot was about 150k, so I had to pull out my 1337 photoshop (MS Paint) skills and moved some stuff around some. To show you that there are no other weird things, I added some red lines to show you where portions of the image was moved.

There's an additional issue. The marine icon (I forget what it does) next to the resource listing is stretched. To show that the resource text IS messed up, I made sure I included other text (the Arms lab tooltip) in the screenshot to compare to.

Can we get a screenshot?

**Bump**

I can't say that I've ever even heard of that problem. What resolution are you running NS at? 1440 x 900?
JNighthawk
Running at 1440x900, like I said in the post :-P There are also issues on the alien side. The hive icons and the icons for the upgrades also stretch. I'll see if I can get a screenshot of that too.
JNighthawk
*Bump* Can I get this acknowledged and/or added to the bug DB? The issues with aliens that are obvious are the hive icons and upgrade icons are being stretched.

Hmmm....could be that NS doesn't fully support widescreen mode.
JNighthawk
Well, it supports it enough. It works fine except for only those few graphical anomalies. Just would like this to be acknowledged and/or put in the bug DB, even if it is minor.
Ari
Reproduced easily enough on my laptop.

The only video resolution option that Steam gives me when I set Options->Video->Display Mode to "Widescreen" is 1280 x 780. However I don't have a widescreen setup, so could someone who does please check and see if 1440x900 is supported by Steam at all, and if so, do the errors that are reported above, still exist?

the only widescreen resolution on my laptop is 1280x800 and it looked fine to me. I'll take another picture if needed.

As you probably will notice in your sprites folder, various sprites are created specifically for 320,640 etc mode. Perhaps we need new sprites specifically for widescreen mode.

I know this post is old, and I hope I don't get flamed for bringing it back up.

First off is this bug fixed? if not, I have a similar problem with wide screen except. Instead of being funky everything is black. All the fonts are, and when I try to jump in the comm chair you can't see a thing except the actually game play your hud is completely useless.

When I load into a server I see this in the console

Missing bitmap font: gfx\vgui\fonts\1680_PieMenuScheme.tga
Missing bitmap font: gfx\vgui\fonts\1680_HierarchyScheme.tga
Missing bitmap font: gfx\vgui\fonts\1680_PSEScheme.tga
Missing bitmap font: gfx\vgui\fonts\1680_ActionButtonScheme.tga
Missing bitmap font: gfx\vgui\fonts\1680_Scoreboard Tiny Tex

I think my wide screen resolution isn't supported 1680 X 1050.

I get this as well mate,

Been dabbling with NS again in work, and just built my first gaming rig, and was looking forward to getting NS up and running

Unfortunately it looks utter guff at 1680x1050 on a Samsung 2032BW Monitor. The scoreboard has green text and a lot of the sprites are missing.

After browsing the forums today I figured out one of the big problems, with the 64 bit computers there is a gama problem, on monitors that don't work properly if you type in the command cl_gamarange 0 (i think thats the command) it might be cl_gamaramp 0. This will fix your problems with sprites. I had to do this for a normal 32 bit computer, try it and see if it works.

Yeah with 1440*900 I got same problem, but it dont bother me(some sprites are odd). But that resolution is my tft native res and its so smooth with it. So if I use 1280*800 everthing is fine, but that isnt“t as smooth as 1440*900. Waiting NS2 to get everything to work way better than in NS1.

NS1 got so many bugs that will lower too easily your fps, like pg lights cut my 2900pro fps to half. x1900xt was perfect card for ns. And in big combat situation you will get overflow wich reduce your fps too.
