Hi, I am curious about some infos to help for a possible map layout design. I had seen those infos somewhere before but can't recall where. Can anyone point me ?

- maximum map size

- siege active range : what's the radius of the attack range

- command chair range : what's the radius of the chair that allows building of equipements like IP or any other ones that have to be in the chair's range

- hive sizes

- hive healing range

- hive range similar to the chair : does such a thing exist ?

- min height/width of corridors for :
--- light marines
--- heavy marines
--- aliens level 1,2,3,4 & 5
--- marine equipement
--- alien equipement

- crouch/jump heights for marines & aliens

- height/width of a ressource tower (marine/alien)

- distance covered by a 30 sec rush done by marines and aliens : how far can they travel at max speed at map start for a 30 sec run

- max height/depth of floor for commander view

- average floor height (coordinate) for the normal commander view height

- max width viewable from a commander view at normal distance : what size would a room be to completly fit in the commander view at an average floor height

- max distance of a trown grenade (hand and GL)

- range of invisibility shield of a sensory

- working range of an observatory

- max shooting range of an ofense tower

- max healing range of a defense tower


If I have other questions, I'll add them via a reply (a bit late now). Making a map has been in my mind for a while. I just have to have time to do it.

Oh yea and what is the maximum WAD size of custom textures besides the NS ones ?

- maximum map size: 8192x8192x8129(x,y,z) (its the grid that is shown in hammer)

- siege active range : 1100

- command chair range : 400

- hive sizes hive itself 256x256x256 (tentacles on top make it 320 high)

- hive healing range:500

- hive range: this is set by the mapper default is 2000 units

- min height/width of corridors for :
ns has three possible clipping hulls. for players they are
32 32 72 - standing marine, couched onos, standing fade
64 64 108, standing onos
32 32 36skulk, lerk, gorge, crouched marine, crouched fade
to accomidate a player teh clipping hull must be able to fit down the hall way. ttheoretically a marine can walk in a 33 unit wide hallway, but it will be nearly impossible to enter.

- crouch/jump heights see previous or do you mean this

- height/width of a ressource tower (marine/alien). seems to be about the size of a standing marine, for eitehr team should be an area at least 128x128 to allow players to run around it

- 30 sec rush: an onos moves 7200(as does a fade), a lerk moves 5250, a gorge 5100, and skulk 8700. marines, i dont know

- max height/depth of comm view: this can be set in the info_mapinfo entity i assume values larger than the hammer grid are excluded, see first post (-4096 , 4096)

- average floor height (coordinate) for the normal commander view height: defaults to zero is entirely based on teh map in question is set in info_mapinfo entity

- max width view: to variable to give you a good answer entirely based upon mappers choice and individaul prefrences.

- range of invisibility shield of a sensory:750 (you must be with in range for 3 seconds)

- working range of an observatory 800 units

- max healing range of a defense tower: 400(also for movement chamber to give adreniline)
maximum WAD size :no max on size of the wad however the used textured must be below 4.0 megabytes to be oficial
