Ive asked a few questions on lighting and someone sent me a few things about texture lighting. Ive decompiled a few maps to check entities out and Ive noticed that not a lot of light entities are used. I assume this is because of texture lighting. My basic question is: Should only lights textures be lit? (I know its possible to do others but I'm shooting for what looks best). Some rooms are lit and have no lights in them at all and I thought it might have something to do with the wall textures giving off light..

Sure hope I dont sound too stupid smile.gif
Appreciate any suggestions you fine folks have time to post smile.gif

I believe the golden rule of texture lighting is...

Don't use texture lighting on walls!

The reason for this is that all textures with texture lighting on them appear fullbright, so your room would look kinda like staring at the sun for 4 hours, and then taking two flaming sticks and poking them into your eyes. smile.gif

So yeah, you should probably only use it on light textures.

I'd say yes: only use it on light textures. It'll only look horrible if you would lit a wall...

If you don't know how to use textured lightning you can find a tutorial here.
