tf im doing im going with the general syle of pipes and stuff its exactly 1000 polies
and im thinking of enclosing the piston thingys with like a box then using transperancy and making it a grate i dunno tell me what you guys think of this and any ideas on how to improve it
BAshh
Apr 10 2004, 02:18 AM
hmm i like the idea, but it's to... plain for me, needs a little more spice. not the TF that is.
Chrono
Apr 10 2004, 02:24 AM
pretty much finished with the TF unless you want other stuff changed on it 1100 polies
bashh you confused me were you saying the TF is to plain or the observatory?
BAshh
Apr 10 2004, 02:27 AM
pardon, i was saying that the observatory is too plain TF... is weird but kickass
Chrono
Apr 10 2004, 02:31 AM
then tell me what to add to make it better
here is where the grating will be on the TF all the pure white is going to be replaced with grating
BAshh
Apr 10 2004, 02:33 AM
*shrug i donno, but its just too plain
Chubbieboi
Apr 10 2004, 02:35 AM
i like the TF tho the Obs is real fat at the base
Chrono
Apr 10 2004, 03:44 AM
im completely baffled on what to add on the observatory but i did make it taller to get rid of the fatty feel
PromoCL
Apr 10 2004, 03:51 AM
Maybe make the dish bigger?
Chubbieboi
Apr 10 2004, 04:19 AM
maybe make it a long thin pole with dish and it has a lil cable that connects to another lil PC thats placed beside it?

nooo you ripped the idea of detail behind awesome grate-stuff from my head!!! /me wonders what animations could be done with thems buildings...
Chrono
Apr 10 2004, 05:25 AM
TF the pistons moving back and forth?
and the observatory the dish rotating?
and for the construction animation i was hoping it would be possible with the structure being dropped with the tubes not in the floor have them just laying around and when it gets constructed the tubes are plugged into the floor

i REALLY like the cable-toobs. both the models are fantaschtick!
Also, like i said. im not skinner number 1, but if you want any help, i would love to assist in anyway possible
Tobold
Apr 10 2004, 10:52 AM
make the dish of the obs so its not circular, that would be original
Swiftspear
Apr 10 2004, 11:03 AM
and it would be ugly as hell...
as it stands that obs is just a dish and a base, put something on it for the cabels to plug into... a monitor, keyboard, wings, or anything else, just something so it isn't just a base and a dish.

On the topic of the observatory, how about making the dish point diagonally upwards?

i just had a GREAT idea (at least i think so), make the dish as grating. haven't you ever seen those older satellite dishes that are about 8 feet across and made of some sort of black mesh? you should do something like that with this obs, and that way the two would fit together even better.

Polycount wouldn't be an issue at all;in fact, you could cut most of the polies off of the dish entirely.
Just use a masked transparency.

lol, what are you guys talking about? you dont have to change the model at all from how it is now, you just make the skin have a transparent background and you're done.
(though i would suggest changing the dish so it looks like there would be a support structure under the grating.)
