hi guys, this model is for the modelling compo, and i think it deserves its own topic, as i am not getting any feedback from the compo thread. It shoots the plugs of the controllers from the controller port as the grenades.
about 1000 polys atm
heres an old render of it, a new one coming up soon.

I dunno what a GC EXACTLY looks like, but this meets my rough imagination very good

The whole concept (GC=GL. WTH?) is freaky, and I dunno who it will be held to look good, but perhaps a better render would help

on this coming up render, it shows the back handle, where it will be held, and maybe a hand on the side to support it, as it will be held sideways. The open button (bottom right) will be the fire button (ill get a diagram in a sec)

How will reloading work and look like?
CoolCookieCooks

he will face the front of the gamecube towards himself and place the plugs in

Pic of the plugs please! I hope they are formed somehow special (bigger) so they are realisable when loaded...

Won't it be difficult getting the firing and reloading animation to look right as you can't get Half-Life to do 4 different firing and reloading sequences?
Nicely abstract idea though and looks good too!

Hrmm, what about having wavebird transmitters (wavebird being wireless GC controllers) instead of those plugs. Have no idea how they look like but I'm sure you can find pics of them somewhere.

go into hlmv and load up the gl V model, it has each nade with its own loading sequence, and dont worry about the firing sequence, itll just jolt back and the plug will disappear (all offscreen)

I would so use this!
I hope there's going to be a Purple and Black version. Not forgetting Spice, Red and all those other crazy crazy colours they have now. Hell, make a 'Mario' themed one as well!

Nice model, whenever I decide to switch to fun models this is going to be the first one I look for. Anyone know any good GameCube games for an action enthusiast (read: Halo is my ideal console game)? I've kind of inherited a GC with Rouge Squadron, Resident Evil, and a rental of Twin Snakes from my friends closet (he only plays his Natural-Selection now that I've introduced him to it

, all part of my plan to take all his stuff while he's obsessed with NS). Anyone have any ideas on games I would like? I'm looking for Metroid Prime but those retards at the local Blockbuster phased it out a long time ago, and I don't want to buy a game I don't know much about.

the reload/fire animations would be REALLY easy.simply have the marine turn the game cube sideways (to replace the rine opening up the tubes) then have him place the controllers in the slots then have him turn it back around. possible have him turn it on or off depending on if hes firing, or reloading..

The wavebird ones are rectangles that run the height of the cube that plug into the port. They're curved so they can go over the bump thingy (the grey part).

Haha, awesome idea. I suggest it's held by the handle with the right hand, sideways, and the left hand supports the bottom.
Only thing I don't like about this model is the fact that I didn't think of it first!

edit2: for you who dont know what a gamecube looks like, heres what im gonna base my first skin off, i will probably do a black version too.

One little suggestion, you may want to make it a bit taller. You can't really tell from that source photo, but it really is a cube-shaped console.
Necrosis
Apr 8 2004, 07:42 PM
I could TRY to animate it if you assigned bones nicely. IE one for each plug, one for the cube, and a set of normal NS hands.
I say TRY because work's hectic and I'm still trying to singlehandedly do a Predator pack for marines or fade...

I can also animate it for you, also im not sure what the gamecube looks like but if there's a piece of glass on the top of the opening cover remember to use addictive rendering for the glass.

there is no glass on a gamecube
cookie some one said it earlier but you should make it more cube like i have a game cube myself and i think it should be much taller then it is right now
i have a idea for the idle animation make him open up the cover and have a disc spinning inside

its actually shiny plastic, ill use additive and chrome to get that shinyness.
im probably going to do a plain skin as lithunwrap is being so screwy
edit: ok i scaled it to all the right height and everything, ill try and skinmesh again now
