hi all, im new to NS
i have the latest version of ns, and im completly sure that the problem is not occuring becuase of my connection as cs works fine.
i seem to have a constant ping of around 500 on any NS server. also i find when refreshing my server list that they all (10 of them) appear to have 200 range ping.
I have a 512k connection and running at 2.6 gig btw.
cheers,

is your connection ADSL or Cable? are you using ethernet or USB?
if its USB it could be a driver problem. also it coudl be that the servers you are refreshing are located on the other side of the world, hence the high ping.

ADSL ethernet... it only effects ns, no other type of bandwidth usage

well the only thing i can suggest is getting an IP of a server near your location and then trying that out. theres loads of servers with english names but like in australia etc with mega high pings.
if thats not the case, try messing about with your conection settings in steam, then re-install if all else fails.

Have you checked your rates? A few of the Steam updates have done strange things to my roommates' and my settings.

Try this:
1) Open Steam.
2) Click the Setting button.
3) Go to the "Internet" tab.
4) Select the appropriate speed.
5) Enjoy life.
