Full Version: Replacing Texures In Steam 3.0 Ns Maps

I was under the impression that retexturing was as simple as replacing the textures in the wads. In my case, I wanted to use texures from the Doom Retexturing Project in ns_eclipse. Replacing the textures in Wally isn't working. Here's what I did after working my images into the right dimensions:

Paste as new texture
Remipped
Pasted over old texture
Saved .wad

No matter which texures I replaced, the old textures still display ingame. At first I thought I was replacing old textures that weren't used in the map itself. To fix that, I replaced the eclip_command1 and 2 textures, which I knew for a fact were used. Still no luck. The originals still display.

What am I doing wrong?

Are you sure those textures aren't also included in the .bsp? I know there's many in there.

I have no idea. But eclip_command1 and eclip_command2 are definately in the wad, and changing them doesn't work.

In fact, I thought the textures were stored entirely in the wads and not in the bsps confused.gif

sizer, the mapper can at their option include textures into the map itself. this allows them to place textures you cannot edit like credits. it also allows you to play the map with out the .wad that was used to build it. this makes installing the map simpler.
