I've seen so many knifers who can't get kills i had to write a guide. OR rather, a list of things to keep in mind.

1. You aren't superman.
So don't act like it. Use your brain and do realize that you should die ordinarily to any alien cept gorge. Be a bully, pick on skulks who are the most vulknerable to your blade.

2. Crouch
If you crouch the chances you are bitten are reduced. Also, your chances of hitting the low-to-the-ground skulks/lorks is increased.

3. Get HA, not JP
With a jp, your chances of knifing someone is reduced, but so is their ability to hit you. This is a draw. You don't want to draw, you want to win. HA increases your ability to live, protects you from the dreaded spores, but makes you more vulnerable to devour. But if you're up against a pwnos, you are screwed anyway.

4. Don't play fair
Sneak up on people, hide in shadows, do anything you can to get the upper hand. USe erratic movement patterns, pull out a gun shoot the guy and resume knifing. Life isn't fair so don't play by the rules.

5. KNifing is hard.
You are usually outmatched by the opposing aliens. To counter that, I introduce the "knfing aid". Knifing someone doesn't mean you bring their hp from max to 0. It means you get the kill wiht a knife. Your "knifing aid" (known as ka) is anything that'll help you get the kill with a knife. They range in all shapes and sizes, from huge hmgs, to bid bag gls, to the humble pistol, to the stationary mine. In the eaarly game your pistol or lmg will do fine. Later, you'll want to switch to shottys/hmgs. Try to avoid gls as they usually blow up in your face.

6. Use the ka
When you first see your opponent, try to weaken him with your ka, hell that;s its purpose. STAY WHERE YOU ARE! Let the poor bass come to you. When he is close enough to knife, wither knife or keep blowing him away with you ka.

7. Lifeform specific GUides
-Skulk
This is easy. 3 shots from pistol, half a second of fire from lmg, 1 shot at medium range from shotty, or 2 shots from hmg will weaken him enough to knife. You can actually just knife him w/o the use of a ka.
-Gorge
This is actually harder than most people expect. The gorge can move backwards while spitting at you all the time. 1-2 shots from shotty, 5 from pistol, 10 from lmg, 5 from hmg will weaken him.
-Lerk
This is insanely hard. The lerk is manuverable, fast, and packs a punch. Wait fro him to swoop then put a shotty shot in his face (other kas not preferable), then start knifing all the while jumping/crocuhing/moving erratically al lthe time.
-Fade
THis is actually easier than the lerk. All you have to do is wait for him to blink, put 3 shots in his face, and start knifeing. It about as easy as it sounds. Assuming you got HA you will get him weak faster than he does to you.
-Pwnos
This is insanely hard. This is the pinnacle of alien evolution. You will have to tackle it with the lowest of weapons. If you triumph, your name will be known throughout the game. Get eith er a shotty or hmg to prepare. Now wait for the bass yo come to you as always (unleashing your fury with a hmg of course, wait for it with a shotty). Put 1 clip of hmg into the cow or 5 shottys and start knifing. Remember to crouch! Pwnii have a harder time eating people who crouch. This is the one case where you should get JP.

That concludes this guide. I hope you are now educated in the way of the knife.

i have managed to kill a skulk while knifing an RT
im pretty sure i got a true knife kill (i play to play, not to be cool (no offence to anyone except people like the guy i talk about next)

i also saw some llama with a knifehax (crouchglided along floor with knife swinging majorly faster than normal)

same guy used spithax (again, increased RoF) on the next map, then got kicked a little while afterwards

Catpack knifing...oh, the fun that brings....yes, the most wonderful times.....

As for gorge spit....it's all about the focus spit, nothing beats it.

Edit: I know this is out of place, being the marine strategy forum, but it seems needed.

If you're a gorge, and wish to avoid the knife kill, go directly backwards as much as possible, a marine is only slightly faster, and unless he's RIGHT on you, you can do enough damage with spit to drop him, or at least waste enough time to get a skulk in to help. If you don't have the room, spin around to one side, slip past him, and back directly away. Don't allow the marine to dance the circle dance with you, your spit is slower and his knife does more, force him to come at you and be the aggressive one, and you'll have spit kills to shame the guy who finds glory at the end of a blade.

ok, let me clarify. What i'm saying is that you need 125 hmg bullets to kill a regen/cara pwnos. Maybe a bit less if you manage to get every single shot in. But you normally don't get 100% of the shots in the pwnos. The he regens as you come at him to knife. When you reach him he'll have about 120 hp so knife for 2 sec. I;m used to palying co where every1 has cara and regen.

He explained in the post. Way to show the world that you didn't read it.

And not getting all the shots in an onos? You'd have to have some horrible aim, they're impossible to miss. Either that or like a sensitivity of 999. At a distance/around corners... I'll give you that so say 90% of hits.

I find it's best to knife kill onos by crouching and knifing at the spot where you'll block his retreat.

As for skulks... sidestep is your friend. Surprise is your lover.

Lorks and fades... that's hard.

Gorges, that's fun and easy (as long as no skulkies are by hehe)

Yeah yeah knifing the onos ... don't know how i did this one time but i was lagging at about 500ms around thought to myself 'damn you won't kill *** with those lag and choke' saw the onos coming along miasma and started running straight for him swinging my knife and suddenly he dropped to the floor......

now THAT was awsome

If you have a comm that watches Onos' health bars, pull out your knife when you hear him shout "NO HEALTH BARS LEFT!"

I can actualy kill a lork with knife to too hard. unless they are skilled.
LMG clip, Pistol Clip, pull out knife. and one quick jab will usualy finish him off
You just gotta lern how to dodge lorks like a MO FO

Empty a single clip into the lerk and he goes down, unless he has cara, and even then, there's no need for the pistol. They aren't that big, and if you have good aim, you gotta watch out and not kill him with your LMG clip.

Remeber that weapon upgrades dont effect knives.

yes lerks die from 1 lmg clip....their hitbox is quite a bit smaller than ppl think, but they cant stand 300 damage, which is 60% accuracy...........and if a lerk is flying straight away from you like some newb, its quite easy....

Gorges are soooooooo fun to knife!! I remember one ns game, I knifed the same gorging three times! (he evolved again)
