I've googled this, and tried the XP mouse fix registry program ( for CS ) from the CPL. Most stuff I end up reading about is on CS. I'm sorta confused and am looking for a universal fix.

On Windows 2000 my mouse sens is 2.5, it is true 2.5.
Yet on my XP my 2.5 feels like 1.0

Can anyone help me out?

Same PC, 2 O/S's on different partitions ( if ya thinking about mouse drivers/etc ) - to my understanding this is a software issue.

It says it's just for CS, but it's wrong in that regard.

Just do the '-' (dash commands) under lanch options for Half-Life in the "My games menu" for steam.

Even if you don't do the in game options for HL or CS, make sure you do the Window's XP fix. It works great.

Thanks Forlon,

( ftp://thecpl.com/mouse_fix.zip ) - no mouse accel *** now I get it, I thought this file was a full fix for the whole problem - not just mouse accel ( which probably ain't all of it )

Will try the commands that are on this site you linked me to - there's enough info there to have me covered, it's unlikely I'll revisit this thread. Cheers D:

I had the same problem - no matter if I told WinXP and Steam to not use mouse acceleration, it was still there (and i can't play with that). I tried those tools / reg-files but the result just felt wrong. Finally I stumbled over those parameters that work just fine. Just user Steam-Games to create a shortcut to NS on your desktop, bring up the shotcut's properties and add parameters so it looks like this:

C:\...\Steam\Steam.exe -applaunch 70 -game nsp -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd

If you don't want to create a shortcut for it, you can just go to the "Games" window, right-click on Half-Life, go to Properties, then click the "Launch Options" button and put all your switches in there. I think. It'll apply to any third-party mods, because they launch through the Half-Life game.
