in the ns sound directory under turrets theres turret sounds theres turret-1 whitch is the normal then theres turret sounds {turret-2 - turret-4} each one sounds more powerful than the next are the turrets upgradable or is it not used and a waste of space

They are probably from an earlier version when the turrets used to get upgrades with the Arms Lab same as marines.

They are just other sounds to give the Turret a more vairied sound.

i was thinking it would be the other way around because upgradeable turrets would be an improvement and help against onos turret.gif tiny.gif rushes

i dont know about you but in all me time playing ns sence 2.1 ive never heard any of the other sounds before

Turrets are still upgradable just like b4..
easy to tell when as a Fade your able to easly blink in kill a few rines and have turrets do less damage than a fall! But seemingly towards the end you start fearing the turrets more than the marines. And yes, they also play those sounds upon upgrading, thats how you know which upgrade they have. Its saved my life many times as a lerk, knowing just how much you will get pwned when you fly into that base!

Turrets were never meant to counter Onoses. HMG rines do that, as do upgrades.

Of course, the best counter is prevention. Attack early, dont let them get many rts.

ok for one thing my ive been comm before on and offline and ive never before in playing many internet games ever seen an upgraded sentery ive looked in the frontirsman mannual nothing ive checked the buildings nothing i was comm over lan with bots to find an turret upgrade nothing and you expect me to belive that crap give me a pic of an upgraded turret or better yet tell me how to upgrade turrets so i can see it my self then ill belive it

turrent do NOT receive an damage increase from a weapons upgrade ANYMORE. I believe as of 2.1, it was removed for the very reason @nthony said...... the turrets were hurting more than the rines. Occasionly the upgraded sound would play for the first bullet in 2.1, but that issue was resolved in 3.x

umm u ever hear the turret sounds sometimes when its firing then all of the sudden it sounds really powerful like its gonna rip somehing inhalf those are what those 2 sound files are probably from

These are just the normal turret sounds, they all play during the course of a turret's firing. You can hear them all at the same time if you attack a turret farm.
