Bring back the defend icon you can place ontop of the noobs. There are poeple that never listen, but if you put a defend target marker ontop of them its soo annoying they will do what you say or in a few cases leave which isnt a loss. If it gets abused people can just vote to eject commander. For people how dont know about this, everytime you move you get a big icon in your face so you cant see at all.

Although I am sure this would be a good way to take your comming frustration out on poor NSPlayers, I doubt it would actually work the way you describe it.

Yeah right... if they don't WANT to do what you order them to do, just clutter their screen and block their view so they CAN'T do what you order them to do... nice job.

Or, the Natural Selection team could implement support for the "Plug-it-in Torture Device 3000". The perfect and ecofriendly way to deal with disobedient Rambos and newbies.

Despite my tolerance for *erk* noobs, when they don't bother listening, or following experienced players, they deserve a medpack up the ****...

We have a rule on our server. If you fail to communicate with your team, and/or with the commander, you're removed. It works very nicely. There's already a game for people who want to play alone. It's installed with Windows. It's Solitaire.

If you are asking them to do something and my little trick works thats when you remove the defend target pic from their face. Dont be retarded.

The defend thing is still possible somehow. It happened to me today. I was leading in kills for marines, and somehow the newb commander put a defend on me, and I was practically blind for five minutes while i yelled at him to get it off. And he really was a new commander. I have no idea how he did it, neither did he, I certainly can't do it in the comm interface. It really is quite annoying, killed me more then a few times until he finally set a new wp.

-Use a microphone, because a lot of ppl seem to ignore text messages
-act like someone with experience
-use the Squad command (for example : Ctrl - 1) on a group of marines
-give up and start spamming shotties

Speaking of nsplayers
Our server automatically drops anyone with the name nsplayer or player. It is really quite effective

I play on a server with the comm slap plug in.
If a n00b isn't listerning you can slap him for 0 damage. But as it's a Vets server, so I rarely see it used. Again as Act Chill said, If it's abused the comm gets kicked. It should be included as standard.
"Remeber, when a marine's not following orders it takes 36 muscles to frown. But it only takes 4 to b*tch slap the mofo upside his head!" - Use Comm Slap V_1.0
Edit - Comm slap is like Admin Slap, for those who don't know.

damn... I want comm slap...
it probably won't make them follow orders, but IT's probably great for frustration

Yeah, it does wonders when you just come home from a hard and stressful days, work/school. Almost as good as popping bubblewrap or stroking an animal.

I find rewarding soldiers the best way, example. You go out and get some res points ill drop your precious armoury.

It seems to help to have a guy in the field that follows orders that talks to the others and leads them there as well. If there is a guy there who will pick up your men and lead them, you tend to get more people to go where you need. Just something I noticed.

One word: Bribery. If you play on a regular server you learn who is a team player and who is not. So just don't give them anything or if you do they get it last. When the complain explain why. If all the vets do this then the Noobs fast fall into line. After all we do out number them...I hope

Also I'm with the mic Idea as I don't type fast enough to be effective with it. So when the **** hits the fan I quite often forget to look at it.

bribery doesn't work. you can't take someone with savere A.D.D., promise them a chocolate bar if they pay attention, and expect them to actually pay attention.
even if they really want that chocolate bar and try their hardest to concentrate, it's just not going to happen, they're A.D.D. inflicted nimrods and can't focus on the topic at hand. its an internal defect, a disability, and it cant be fixed, only sufficed for (by negative reinforcement, i.e. putting waypoints on the retard's heads).
positive reinforcement does NOT work in this instance, the only effective measure is negative, go to any pub server if you doubt this. you tell them you'll get a shotgun if they follow the waypoint, they respond "cool, will do comm!," and get side tracked by the next 15 paces and wander aimlessly across the map. happens all the time.
which is why chill's idea is sweet, cause its an effective tactic. there should be something included by default that allows the commander to somehow punish a neglectful marine, the eject option is always there so there's no risk

commrage is a good way to increase stress-related heart disease in the raged comm, and that's about it. if the noob encountered is too apathetic and oblivious to begin with, a screaming manic comm will only further disencourge them (the majority of them at least, in my experience as a type-a personaltiy comm who is prone to rage)
