LordOfDragons
yep... first post = n00b post... nooo flaming required, i know this biggrin.gif

what i got here:
linux => winex (fake windows) => steam (working, other mods working) => install beta3 => access violation, namly this:

Access Violation at address 0040C54A. Write of address 0040000

umpf... somebody produced a wild pointer there? wink.gif

it happens directly after launching the installer. perhaps you see what's going on there.

(btw... i've seen the installer topic but this one is about a full windows which really can't be the trick at all confused.gif )

EDIT: ah yeah... neraly forgot this... why can't you provide an archive for installing this one? i know people like fancy windoof installers but they tend to give troubles (had lots of troubles with the beta2 installer under old windows back then)
LordOfDragons

Same error message here. I'm using winex 3.3 and Steam is installed correctly.

Linux 2.6.2-1-k7 i686 - Debian testing/unstable - Nvidia Geforce2 GTS 32MB

Must be some fancy startup dlls missing for the installer. Not really sure though.

penguin_man

gather around young grasshoppers! i have a solution! dont use WineX to install! use Wine. i find that using crossover office roxx to install NS 3 beta. then you copy and paste. one problem. the sound sucks. (from my experience)
