i need to know how to draw a head onto a neck onto the shoulders - when i do it, it looks ermmm crap
kyliegirl
Oct 27 2003, 01:35 AM
takes a bit of practising to get that right, i cant find any tuts on it cus its more or less practising it out.. just look at how the head connects to the neck on animals etc. horses and dogs etc. the horse prob shows the best example of connecting the head onto the neck.
practise makes perfect, youll get it right soon enough

edit:: i found one anatomical page which might help with drawing the head and neck etc. i will ad it on, if ya lok at it properly it does actually help you how to draw the neck properly because it shows you where the bones and muscles and organs sit inside the body to form the actual body shape.
double edit: ok links of anatomy on the list, on the bottom, enjoy, they should help you to connect the head to the neck well enough.

Goodjob for the list and the bump, it was lost in the many artwork threads. I didn't know it even existed....
.:|AMAS|:. kyliegirl maybe you could PM a mod or something, since requesting it to be stickied in the thread usually doesn't work

Its a good thread. But if you really want it stickied why not PM a mod? It usually works faster

I wonder if we could find some GIMP tutorials to add to that list... Some of the photoshop tutes are still usefull to GIMP users, but it's hard to do the translation of what X means in Y, expecially if you are new.
Here are the basic tutorials from the gimp website to get things started off, but I bet there are a fair bit more out there that would be really nice to see...

Please do. I came here a couple days ago and found the same thing. I'm getting really into photoshopping, and am frantically doing every tutorial I can in the attempt to become a decent texture mapper. I've come to realize that (a) the more you know about Photoshop, the better and quicker you are, (b) there's almost an infinite amount of stuff to learn in photoshop, hence if you follow (a) you're screwed, and © there dont seem to be that many great tutorials for creating textures from scratch (like most scifi textures).
Video tutorials are especially awesome. But please, link anything you can.

If I remember, a while ago, there used to be a tutorial on making a starfield.
It would be cool to also have the following for realistic environmental maps:
- photoshop starfield creation
- photoshop planet creation
- photoshop nebula/galaxy creations
