I'm not sure what everyone thinks, but i believe it'd be neat if anyone who wants to, can create a new alien for NS in any program or use any medium they want! go wild! ^_^;
I might try something soon, whip up a nice new NS alien that i'd like to be in a possible future version of NS! haha...and give it a good name also!
Hope soon to see some great creations, we have some VERY talented people in these forums!


Remember, create in anything you like, howevr you want it to look, and give it a name also! And possibly list some of its attacks it can have! Hopefully some of the creations should turn out awsome!

An old idea... this was a hypothetical Class 6 alien, a water specialist (disregard the lack of water in the maps). It's about 10 feet long, and probably would have had a Devour ability (this was pre-2.0).

I can see acid rocket on it for sure along with you said devour.
If it has devour it should (By teh looks of its teeth) have bite.
And along with that I would thing it should have ram (Kind of like Leep but because it doesnt have feet you know ram...)
I know its not going to be added but thats just my observation.

It's like the evolution BEFORE the skulk, in its Wurm type phase ... not having many attacks except "Bite", "tail whip" and "Acid Vomit" (hehe, i like that one )

Personally.... a fast snake like alien would be very cool

heh, threw this together very quickly in paint.. didn't even think first, so I guess I'll have to think of something now.

Not sure what to call it, but it's like a large skulk or a fade on all four legs. Quick and with a devastating bite, tough as a fade. Not sure what disadvantage to give him.. probably sucky hive abilities..
Maby a shorter slower version of leap because he's heavy. And something like a sniffing attack that will give him temporary pheromones, and pherhaps at 3 hives a wallclimbing ability will become available, but no hive 3 weapon?

Maby I'll do something more serious later or tomorrow.. don't have time right now.

i actually wouldnt mind water aliens which u can evolve into aliens which can breathe underwater and make water maps ^_^ thatd be cool , like theyre fast in water, but slow on land and have a serious bite attack, and a tail slash attack, a thrash and maybe an ecco attack where the ecco boosts the energy of everything near it

Have you all seen the Two Towers, where Orcs ride the Wargs, that are like a mix between wolf and hyena? It'd be cool if aliens could get something like that. A creature that runs on all fours, somewhere between a skulk and an onos in size, for the fade to ride on. Probably not very practical at all, but it would look cool.

Hehe, a cybernetic 'buddy' for the marines would be nice, but only if it had really good AI. The commander would have to control it's movement via waypoints, but otherwise it would be autonomous.

This is a great idea for a topic!! I think pretty much nothing can top Coils awsome pic. Great work on that.
So I sat down for like an hour and a half straight and hammered out some sketches. I was kind of thinking smaller for a couple of the drawings. As if for a small amount of res you could change into a "scout" type creature that has silence and acts like a sensory chamber in that it parasites any marines / marine structures it comes across. The rest of the pics are just different ideas that sprang to mind. After coming back to the topic I noticed some of the suggestions. I should have read them before getting started but I didn't. hope you like and enjoy!

and I think the scout idea is cool. super fast, but really weak. not an attack lifeform so much as parasites, can jump like a mofo, maybe everything it sees is projected on hive mind/ map overview.

One thing I tried to do with mine, and that I think it'd be cool if other people did as well, is try to fit your design into the style that Cory came up with for the aliens. There were basically 3 things they all have in common:

1) vaguely mammalian body structure - so insect-like creatures, scales, etc are out.
2) the coloration and "infested" look, the green growth and the tan-ish tentacle-like structures.
3) spikes, spines, and other sharp pointy bits.

Anyway, have at it!

Here's mine. I was thinking along the lines of an assassin type unit. one that's fast, silent and come complete with it's wallclimbing ability. on walls/ceilings it crawl on all fours but on the ground it stalks the enemy on two legs. it has no ranged attack and it purely close-combat oriented, although it should never fight close combat, rather ambush enemies since it has no armor value at all. I'm thinking maybe 100-150 health points. Standing height comes to about the chin of a marine even though it stands slightly hunched over, and on all fours it's a little higher than a gorge. Skin color is dark to help it hide in shadows. Obviously, best upgrade combo for it would be regeneration, silence and cloaking. I still dont know what to call it though. maybe 'shade' or 'phantom'.

hmm a lot like a fade tbh without the wallclimbing ability.

i think of a fade as more of an assault unit though

Actually it looks more of a Licker from Resident Evil 2.

I was really bored in class one day and designed one. It ended up looking like a 3 way cross between a fade, a lerk, and a dragon with a substantial neck. Unfortunately, I a. do not have a working scanner atm, b. lacked blank paper during class so it was on lined paper, and c. lack skills to make it post worthy. It was supposed to breathe fire out of two little jet-vein type things that came to it's mouth (I'd recently watched Reign of Fire because I was sick). I was thinking more along the lines of a NS2 (hopefully) alien, when vehicles are an actual possibility, and the aliens needed some forms to fight these.

OMG! I wouldn't care if there was water or not, I would just gestate to that alien because it would scare the crap out of me if it dropped on me as a marine.

EDIT: As for my idea, I'd probably go with some sort of land-snake, wallclimbing intact, with a tail whip and a "constriction" attack, where he grabs a marine, and squeezes the breath out of him. A bite attack also and some sort of bonus movement in water would be a plus. (to tie in with Coil's concept.)

Visual i really like that like if i saw a giant slug with fangs coming at me i would freak hahaha dude keep it up

In my Opinoin a great addition to NS. Is like maybe a few water maps. and you can have like researched stuff for marines to swim. and instead of ONOS on this particiular map, have a water creature..

Here's a couple more I did during my breaks at work. I took coils advice. They are kind of unfinished and I'm not sure when I'll have the free time to work on them again so for now I 'll post as is and edit when I have time to go back to these. The first 1st I was goin for a lion or big cat feel the second is a monkey!!Enjoy!
