biggrin.gif

these are my personal ones:

Robocops: HA+HMGs (Heavy Armor + Heavy Machine Gun)
Tanks: GL+HAs (Grenade Launcher + Heavy Armor)

Well I havent really made any for Jetpacks, I just call them jets no matter their weapon tounge.gif

these are the rest:

Vanilla: No HA/JP lmger
Fatty: gorge
wol: Wall of Lame (too infamous)

hmm I think I summed it up basically...
FireStorm
rambo: lone wolf

jetbo: A marine with a jetpack and perhaps HMG/Welder going to a hive.
Fieari
You forgot to add that HA = Heavy Armored Marine. That's important.
Niteowl
DOH! you're right! can't believe i forgot WOL and HA. altho i tend to use HA as in Heavy Armour. and rines suited up in HA and GL/HMG as heavies.

oh

ping - means to use the observatory to scan something. in order to find cloaked aliens (not used for this purpose much) or to find out if a hive is built or built up.
ZERG
You forgot this one:

inc - incoming, as in "inc to base", "inc to eclipse" used when enemy troops are making their way to X.
Salaman
SG -Sentry gun turret.gif
though most call them turrets, or maybe turrents tounge.gif, but I call them SGs, carry over from TFC I suppose.
Niteowl
damn, where's that conc nade when you need it!!

biggrin.gif

aahhh. dustbowl, how i loved thee!!
Fieari
Niteowl, you can edit your own post to add the important things you forgot...
Sirus
Turrent...*Sirus tries to look inconspicous*

Pwned = Owned, just a little adaptation that makes us all so 1337

1337 = Elite, or Computer/Internet Jargon for the super internet savvy peeps.

SG -Sentry gun turret.gif
though most call them turrets, or maybe turrents tounge.gif, but I call them SGs, carry over from TFC I suppose.

Can I suggest we dont use SG = Sentry Gun, I haven't seen it used but the servers I play use SC a lot. SC or sc = Seige Cannon.
As SC and SG can look similar I suggest we (as in anyone whe reads this thread) use T for turret and SC for Seige Cannon.

As in:-
"need T" = "Commander, I/we would be most grateful if could you see your way clear to spending a few resources on some extra turrets to guard this location."
or
"SC here" = "Commander, I believe that placing a Seige Cannon in this area is a tactically wise move."

If the Commander drops the wrong one you waste 20 res. That can cost you the game. wink.gif
Hypergrip
"need HMG in base" = I'm a total newbie to NS, but own in CS, so i really really really need a big fat gun, no matter if the game is running for about half a minute or we have 3 resources.

"com u suxx" = I was whining about an HMG but the com did not give it to me"

(btw: did anyone mention "com(m)" = commander before ? *g*)

"wallhack !!!" = A marine just shot me down from the ceiling, although I was hanging in a dark corner. I don't know what Motion Tracking is, because there's no such thing in CS"

"dbl res" = 'double resource' -> and area with two resource nodes close to each other (for example "atmospheric processing" in ns_bast or "holoroom" in ns_hera").
Coyote399
ns is more commonly natural selection, not nice shot

gj=good job
SoulSkorpion
Here are a few more:

bl: bad luck
wd:well done
com\comm: commander
WoL: Wall of Lame. A wall of OCs and DCs designed to block the enemy from getting past.

spawn: generally refers to the initial starting location, not just the place where you respawn. this is therefore the marine start, or the initial hive
main: either Maintenence hive (see below) or synonymous with "spawn"
res: abbrev. for resources.
temp. gorging: going gorge only briefly (temporarily), usually to drop a res tower.

Map locations:
CC\Compcore: Computer Core hive, on ns_eclipse
eclipse: Eclipse Command on ns_eclipse (the whole facility is called Eclipse, but it is commonly used to refer to the hive)
reception\Hera: Hera Entrance and Reception on ns_hera (as with "eclipse", the whole base is called Hera.)
main\maint: Maintenence hive, on ns_eclipse
Red Room (sometimes rr): the small room accessible by vents near Great Viaduct, on ns_nothing. So called because of the red vent-lighting. This location can only be accessed by Lerks, Skulks or Jetpacks. It is within siege range of Viaduct hive, so it's of incredible tactical importance (whoever controls redroom controls viaduct, basically).
via: Great Viaduct hive on ns_nothing
gen: Generator hive on ns_caged
psilo: Power Silo hive on ns_caged
cargo: Cargo Bay hive on ns_caged
vent: often used to refer to Ventilation hive on ns_caged. Depends on the context, eg "I need a gorge at vent" means ventilation hive, but "watch the vent" means ventilation duct.
processing: a spot just outside Data Core hive on ns_hera which is within siege range of both Data Core and Ventilation hives.
port: Port Engine Hive on ns_nancy
noname: The unnamed hive on ns_nancy

By the way, the term "SG" to refer to "Sentry Gun" comes from Team Fortress Classic. I don't call turrets SGs becuse SGs make mincemeat out of anything that crosses their line of fire, unlike NS turrets. Oh, and if anyone's curious I wrote a guide to TFC slang a long time ago under an old name (and what a crappy name it was, too wink.gif) which has lots of terms common to all HL mods.

yes, when talking to buds. as in are you going to play ns tonight?

but like most language, it's context sensitive. i get whacked as alerk in mid air with a pistol, i say "ns", when i spawn in, or just as i die.
Okabore

Have you ever seen silenced skulks in early game? You walk, you don't hear ANYTHING but your own footsteps and suddenly *CHOMP*CHOMP* you're dead. MC first is not a noob tactic.
Niteowl
ah, again, please, no acronyms for maps, the first post would get toooo long
Geballosaurus
I believe pg = phase gate has not been mentioned
I've also seen hs = health spam and as = ammo spam used by some people to get their commander to do as such.
Niteowl
pg is there.

watch_me_die
Some basic RTS terms often used in NS are:

turtle / turtling - building up the base a lot with turrets, etc. while having little or no expansion
rush - a group charging the opposing team's base
watch_me_die
Also: smile.gif

RTS / FPS - real time strategy, first person shooter. NS is a combination of these two types of games.

turret farm - a huge collection of turrets, the marine equivalent of the WoL.

res whoring - placing down as many resource points as possible (marine tactic)

tech rush - a marine tactic; upgrading as fast as possible in order to rush the alien hive, usually to JPs and HMGs and probably using res whoring tactics.

waypoint - a marine's current order as placed by the commander.

spawn camp - to sit on/in the spawn of the opposing team and kill them as soon as they appear.

lame / llama - someone or something or a tactic which is frowned upon.

spray and pray - holding down the trigger and pointing in the general direction of your enemy in the hope that you will hit him.

spam - randomly doing lots of the mentioned action, as in "med spam", also just "spam" as in "spray and pray" firing.

bunnyhop - to jump continously in such a manner that you gain a speed boost from doing it.

para'd / para'ed - short for parasited.

para - short for parasite or paralyse depending on the context.

tank - another word for heavy armour.

bitegun - the skulks "bite" attack, taken from the console name for this.

obv / obsv - some people use this for observatory.

sens - sensory chambers.

off - offense chambers/towers.

rawr - this is either used after taking out a lot of marines, or after evolving to a high-level alien (fade, onos). probably in imitation of how the aliens make the noise smile.gif

yes but is this silence viable against a group of marines (the way it was meant to be played) to take it over healing? (dcs healing OCs/hives/skulks/giving carapace)
Not so sure. Nonetheless, I surely find it quite funny, and I'm sure I'm going to get a game or two of silenced skulking on my server since I dont make noise chomping either smile.gif

Tagging - Means your intention right now is to tag as many marines as possible rather than just throwing yourself at them.
