When I hit the "esc" button, the screen simply goes black, and nothing else happens. The game works normally otherwise, but I can never adjust anything in-game. Any ideas?

what OS do you use? what vid card? and what mode do you have HL set at? (D3D? OpenGL? what rez?)



a few things to check first,

1) make sure drivers are updated (new Nvidia drivers just came out not too long ago)

2) make sure you run in Open GL. NOT D3D.

3) go into the settings for your vid card and turn off any extras you have turned on (anti-aliasing, Anisotropic filtering, ect.)

after you do those, go try and see if it still goes black. if not, then something you had set, or old drivers were the cause.
