I installed some new sounds for mg-1, every time I play on a multiplayer server the sounds are distorted, meaning the sound pitch slows down, speeds up, gets louder, gets quieter, etc etc.

Hz are 22050 and it's in 8bit mono, but it still does this in multiplayer. However, in LAN games by myself they sound fine... what the heck is going on?

Ok I was just playing on a server with a reinstalled, unmodified version of that sound file and it was working, however, after awhile it just out of the blue started to mess up again.. err this is weird.
