How do you get ns running
zimzum
QUOTE
Installing Natural Selection
1. Get Steam and Install it
2. Get Half-Life 1 and Install it
3. Get Natural Selection and Install it

NS is a mod for HL1 - this means you have to have HL1 to play NS. if this isn't answering your question, try asking a different one.

ns trainer shuts down every time

sorry can't help you. i downloaded, installed and ran the ns_training fine. but, if running the ns_training is your only problem don't worry about it - ns_training is not needed to play the game, it's just a quick tutorial.

<edit> is NS installed yet or are you just trying to run the ns_training without installing NS?

Just follow my guide.

@NS does not support software mode@

You need to run ns, then click options in the main menu. Under Video options you needs to select either openGL or D3D as default renderer. If Software is selected the game wont run.

If the game wont run under both opengl and 3d3 do the following things:
make sure that your PCs GPU does support those one of those modes
make sure that directx is up to date
make sure that you have the correct drivers installed for your GPU.
the newest drivers are not always the best ones. so rolling back to a stable version might be wortwhile
