Ok well ive gotten into NS and i go as minT in the games.

This started i would say 2-3 days ago. While im playing the game suddenly freezes and i open the Task Manager and it says "Not Responding". Now i never gotten this before when i played, but it just randomly crashes while i play and i would like to see if maybe its a bug or something other people already experienced.

Any type of help would be appreciated.

1) did you change anything recently? (new hardware, drivers, anything)
2) Do other HL1 based games have these problems?
3) Shut down unnecessary processes in the background? (IM, P2P, whatever)
4) How random are these crashes? Every game? Every hr? every 5 mins?
5) Reinstall NS? (Reinstall HL?)

This happens to me as well. Although it only happens when I'm on the aliens team and there is alot of people around me. The game just freezes and I have to exit out. Then I will play and join aliens for a little more and it does it again. I tried reinstalling it many times. Tried messing with my Firewall and I turned of background programs not needed.

Do you know what process explorer is? You could try adding a program trace on the ailing app and see if that can give you any additional information.

More specifics on when the crashes are happening. Next time you crash, write down everything you were doing on a piece of paper and tell us your 'Steps to reproduce'.

Then try going back into the game and doing the exact same actions you were doing when the game crashed.

I'm also getting this only as Khaara. I never really noticed since I used to not play them, but I've started playing them and I get the crashes pretty consistently. So far, I've always been in vision (lifeforms highlighted) mode, and there's usually something large on screen (Onos, Hive, etc.). Could be a polygon visibility bug or something, but whatever it is it's annoying and stopped me from playing half the game.

I'm not sure if this applies to everyone else that has posted but my game similarly freezes fairly often when I am playing as an alien. I've also figured out that it always happens when I am using Blink as a Fade. It doesn't freeze everytime I use blink, but every time my game has frozen so far it has been when I was using Blink.

How might I fix this?

Just to be contrary, per the other support message I posted (relating to a linux specific issue, not this) I crash most often under Windows as marine - and I can be fairly specific about the cause...

I get it on servers with the /buildmenu add-on, and most often the very instant I try to drop an observatory. It will display on screen and crash / lock up *immediately* - although if other players drop them, I have no problems.

Sometimes I can CTRL-ALT-ESC and force a close that way, but more often than not, I need to force a hard reset.
