okay... so i spent about 3 hours working on a map for NS the other day. When i saved it and came back to it later it gave me a silly error message and wouldn't load back. Is this related to the saving or the loading process and is there any way to fix it?

i tried reinstalling hammer and reopening the map but it doesn't seem to help. every time i make a new map after reinstallation of hammer the same thing happens when i try to load it up again.
Is this a problem with my .dlls or something? any help would be much appreciated.

ahh i figured out what my problem was. For some reason whenever i saved a map, it didn't save it with the .rmf file extention so the type was just considered "File" until i changed the extension in the file name. Once i changed it, it refuses to load. If i add the extension WHEN i save it, it doesn't have this problem, but here's my question now:
how do i default it to add the .rmf file extension? When i saved it, it declared itself as saving to the .rmf type, but neglected the extension.
Also, is there any way to recover the data i saved into my old map?, which i can now no longer open?

Which version of Hammer are you using?
