I am trying to run a competitive play server, and just want to get it out there. I am currently working on a website and setting up times for good sized teamplay games. The ip is 129.21.105.37:27015. The server is ran off of a gigabit lan connection, Located in upstate New York. If you want to know how good the connection is, I have seen players from Texas connect with 40 latency. Regardless I am trying to make a competitive gaming server because I kinda think competitive gaming has gone to ######. I know this is my first post I just haven't made an account on the forums yet I've been playing for a few years on and off.

Sounds neat!
Are you going to donate it as a scrim/match server?
I can't check right now, so could you post some info about the server? Slots? Plugins?
What makes it a comp play server?

I don't mind donating it as a scrim/match server. What I am trying to build is a new NS Gaming community, where players play as team members, and not free lancers.

That's cool, good idea.
How do you do that?
What are your ideas?
Does your server have a website?

I don't need web hosting I have my own, I just need a domain. I am going to buy that soon. My main idea behind the server is friendly team play, and competition. If you look at a lot of servers that like competitive play or team play it is hard for new players to get involved with it. If you don't know how they play and how to work with them, then you are wrong. I don't want that mind set on my server. I am still working out specifics, I am currently testing the server for stability to see what I can cap it at. Once I get the server completely set up I will finish the website.

Please apply this template to any posts that try to do something with NS1:
Instead of doing x, consider donating your monthly fees/chunk of money/efforts to the developers and their work on NS2.
NS1 is dead. There aren't enough players to form a community with the ideals that you are dreaming about. There might be *one* server that is somewhat following this approach, but all the players interested in doing that are already playing there. Read: You are wasting your time and money. Cost to benefit ratio is approaching zero.

I hate to be an ass right now but you are basically telling me to spend my $0 spent, and donate lets say $50 to NS2. I don't see your logic here, why doesn't the dev team just say give us money so our obnoxious members don't have to say it for us. I am sorry but I don't donate to third party dev teams, especially if they plan to release something for money. Please go ahead if you think I should be flamed.
But, I did not spend one cent on my website or server, its called good internet and general know how. It was originally for some friends and myself at school to play on but i figured I would share it with everyone in the NS community but I guess you don't even want that. Why don't you donate and say screw NS1, I'm sure you still play NS1 so don't be hypocritical.

I actually haven't played NS for several months now, so yes I have given up on it. I am interested in NS2 though. I might even invest in UWE in the near future if Charlie ad Co. can show the goods.
The dev team has something called the Constellation right now. It is a source of income, although it is limited and probably helps to cover some costs. I would think that if you are interested in a successful game that is as good or better than NS1, you would want to donate to UWE. The comment was based on the assumption that you were going to pay money for your operations. However, if you aren't paying anything financially, then I suppose that's good - there will just be opportunity costs involved in terms of the time you spend on your project. That's all yours to command.
Obnoxious forum user signing off.

I thought it said hosting I'm sorry. I personally like creating my own designs from scratch. Gives a website a nice custom look.

I had played on it when he first set it up. It had the default voice codec, so you couldn't understand anything. It had low rates. It had mp_bs 1. And I can't remember what else there was, but in defense of the server owner, he said he wasn't able to make config changes since it was run off a computer in his dorm and he was off to break. Although I do have to wonder why he would post server information publically if he has yet to complete configuration of it. Furthermore, he had to have modified the server.cfg from the official server.cfg at least a little since default is mp_bs 0.
