Full Version: one more gun to the classes

ive been thinking about how inflexible the marine weapons really are and what little choise they get.

id like to add one more gun to the light and medium classes and a choise in ammo for the GL.

ligths class: a weak but fast firing shotgun with a detatchable magazine.
10 rounds with 5 pellets and 10 damage per pellet, it equals the LMG in damage per mag but
since its fast firing theres a chans that you miss all or some of the bullets and you get buffé´d.

medium class: an battle-rifle with 20 round with 50 damage.
basicly a heavy pistol, has less damage per magazine then the med-sg but longer range.

heavy class: the grenadier gets to deside if he want HE or canister ammo.
a scaled up shotgun with massive damage, spread and recoil, if your not in HA you get pushed back and JPs get pinballed.

the heavy class allready has two guns so no change here.

the commander buys medium-heavy credit for the classes and the grunt picks wich one he wants
at the closest arms lab (theres a mod that does the same) to the CC or in his left-click menu and it stays with him till he switches.

the commander dosnt have to micro manage as much since its he only pushes a button
and theres placing of the weapons and its alot more flexible.

only real problem is that noones might go HE-GL, but i guess its natural selection if the team gets OCed to death.
so its self moderation for the marines.

Ps. was thinking of adding a Ingram or glock21 like pistol with 10dx20m to the secondary but that migth be overpowered.

I sort have woundered about this also, why is it when I get in HA, i am still stuck with the normal guns?, dont you feel you should get the choice of two other guns like a mini gun that littraly has ###### loads of bullets, or a net launcher or something, i know obiosuly a net launchers breatches the I&S rules but still, and when i take JP, why not a few one hander weapons of some form like a Mac 10 on crack, something that has the random spread of fire that couldnt even hit a ono's. or a G hook teather type thing.

with the new Alt fire mods i already figure new alt ammo types would be used and so on. on top of that why cant marines refill up only their ammo for at least the LMG from a TF. its seams like the same size rounds feed into the Lmg a the sentrys.

i hope developers wont consider this topic at all.

This wouldn't be possible in the current version of NS due to Half-Life's weapon limit in the engine. They're very near the limit atm.

um so you can have 8 guns in a game ? pretty sure theres 3x that number in CS...

dont know whats wrong the the idea ?

you join the server... the moment you join the marines you get to pick the LMG or the ligh shotty...

and you get it instandly... can use the left-menu to change weapons and you get it after you die...

later the commander buys credit for medium weapons...

you open the left-click menu... deside... go to the armory... do you want a medium weapon it queries

1 for yes and 2 for no...

and later the commander buys credit for heavy weapons...

left-menu deside...

1 for yes and 2 for no...

seems pretty steamlined to me... and not abusive or overpowered...

alot less stuff on the map for the server to keep track off aswell...

Weapons in NS (engine interpreted weapons, that is)
4 aliens with 4 unique weapons each =16

spikes (old alien weapon, that is still there, but not used)
paralyze (old alien weapon, that is still there, but not used)

25

Thats 25 actual weapons total. Plus some other stuff count as weapon aswell (not sure on this one, though)

And CS has 25 weapons, what a coincidence.

i didnt think there was a gun limit in source like there was in half life one. well there prolly is but its most likely like 70 weapons or some such.

Hmm.. I can see into the future.. If the onos picks up a piece of garbage off the ground (with willpower alone/invisible appendages, amirite Gordon Freeman?) and uses it as a magic carpet ala HL2 phys glitch then yea.

yep which was promotely nurfed in EP1 and remained nurfed in EP2
