Full Version: Grenade launching for dummies

I typed this guide up for a certain pub server, but I'm hoping I'll reach a wider audience by posting it here. This mostly concerns 50 level combat (since there's no such thing as vanilla combat anymore), but a lot of the rules are applicable to classic as well.
  • Don't get a grenade launcher until you have a jetpack. You may think you need it, but you don't. You'll just end up as cannon fodder for the next 20 minutes or so until you finally do get one.
  • Don't sit in one place and grenade spam a corner for 50 minutes. While you may manage to kill some skulks and even a fade every once in a while, it's useless for your team. You need to push the hive as hard as you can, and take out structures or lob nades under the hive.
  • Don't waste time shooting grenades at aliens. Fly past them to the best of your ability, since you'll do far more good for your team by blowing up some ocs or gorges.
  • Keep track of how many gls your team has. If there are 2 or 3 that are managing to get to the hive, drop your gl for an hmg and protect the others.
  • Although it seems like I shouldn't even need to say this, you don't need to fill up on ammo before flying off. Odds are you'll either die before firing more than 1 clip, and if not then resupply is more than enough to take care of your ammo needs.
  • And finally, another thing which should be common sense but that I feel need to be spelled out is that grenade launchers do not protect base. If you really feel the need to camp base, drop your gl for an hmg, as you'll be able to mete out much more damage with it than spamming nades all over base.

Sorry, I know this is Irrelevant for the topic, but i can't stop feeling a pain inside when you type this...
The main reason for this is, that it is true. It's sad that people prefere 50+ lvl CO servers with 32 players and a rampaging guy with 162 - 2 score, where of the 2 deaths are caused by a bug trying to develop to IMBA fade... sorry it ran away with me..

Just had to note this :/

Don't forget to not randomly spam either. Nothing gets me more aggravated than trying to track a fade blinking away while my screen's shaking because of some retard who just figured out how to use +attack.
Alite
yeah, this guide is good.

Also tho, never get too close to ure target (ex. hive) because ull be too concentrated on killing it to notice that ure hit points and amour points r going down with every grenade that explodes because ure too close and all the shrapnel(wtv u wanna call it) is gonna hurt u BECAUSE URE TOO CLOSE!!! This will eventually kill u, and when u look at what alien killed u (because u probably think it's an alien if this happened to u) on the kill menu, ull see as a result a grenade sign and ure name. confused-fix.gif

I'm just pointing this out becuase this happened to me a couple of times because i wasn't paying attention. sad-fix.gif

yup thats me SOMETIMES.

Not to be offensive or anything Alite but chimp propably wrote this to players like you. Not meaning you of course as you have managed to find these forums.

you can protect the base with a GL... when an alien enters the base... shoot for the exit...

might get the fade/lerk/onos as it tried to pulls back...

and you can shoot (in)directly at aliens... just need to predict where its going...

Hopefully people will take it to heart :?
