I am new to the forums so please advise me of any mistakes in the location or makeup of this topic. I recently reformatted my computer so I could cleanup any trojans or unwanted materials from my computer; the only problem is, when I attempted to connect to a Natural Selection server a window popped up saying that the OpenGL video mod is not supported by my computer or something so it was automatically switched to software mod. The problem with this is that software mod is not supported by ns so I get only audio when I join a server and the screen remains blank. This never happened before..... Please help me! sad-fix.gif

Also, what is a reasonable amount of time to wait for a reply in these forums?

Depends on the nature of the question, really.

In this case I will start by saying that Software Mode doesn't work with NS at all. OpenGL is your only real option, and it sounds like you might need to make sure your Video Drivers have been re-installed. Especially if you just reformated. I would strongly recommend by making sure those are up-to-date first.

I have been on the internet all day trying to find out anything about updating my video drivers, but it has been to no avail. I searched the internet for my problem and something about updating direct x 9.0c came up. I tried multiple times using many different websites and nothing worked. I looked for a way to update my video driver and the only thing I came across was to enter into the device manager and click update driver. When I came there I couldnt even find my video driver so I think I havent reinstalled my video drivers. How would I go about doing that?

generally you go to site of the company that designed your video card's chipset

generally ATI or nVidia

If you know which of those is your kind of card go to their site and downloade drivers, then install them.

If you don't know, your graphics adapter should be listed under device manager. GeForce is nVidia, otherwise, try ATI.

find out what gfx card you have installed, post it here and im sure someone can find the drivers for you.
