Natural Selection 1 only works with Half-Life 1. Natural Selection 2 is a stand-alone game and won't require Half-Life 2.

It should be noted that NS2 will use the same Source engine as Half-Life 2, but as Max said it wont require HL2 to play.

this is what i liked to hear
