Ghosting would be a fake image that is 100% opaque of where the player used to be, lagging behind by 1 second, whereas the actual player's position would be a 90% cloaked model of the player at that location. The 90% cloaked model would be hard to hit and aiming would be disorienting for marines because of the fake model.

This would primarily help lerks in vent, as gassing a marine busy area is nearly impossible if everyone is watching the vent. So the 90% cloaked player model would pop out, gas, then pop back in without extreme danger of being seen every time. Of course it would help skulks as well.

Versus the %100/%60 (?) while stationary/moving of regular cloak, no thanks, I'd much rather have the regular cloak. It'll take approx. 5 minutes for an apt marine to catch on to the 1-sec lead time, not to mention how buggy it could get during movement like blink/leap/flight. Unless this is replacing cloak, it would just be erroneous, and if it is replacing cloak, its just an additional, much unneeded, nerf for sensory chamber strategy.

It's not easy to catch onto the 1 second lead time when your target isn't moving in a completely straight line.

Remind me at the session tonight and I'll show you how to gas while you're being camped.

Well... I like the idea since the sc nowadays is quite boring to play. Balancing it might take some time and newbies might be kinda confused but I'm still kinda interested when its changes to sc. At least I'd most likely enjoy spotting the illusions and more than trying to find the cloakers. Illusion might also be more creative for skulking and would encourage dodging instead of running directly to the target. It could also give a very slight piece of survivality that sc lacks badly. At least now I can't think of any reasons why this couldn't work.

how about not making stupid comments...

as far as the idea goes, no. just ... ugh lol it would probably be almost impossible with the retarded buggy hl1 engine, and it would be worthless compared to regular cloak and would be a terribly insufficient replacement

not a bad idea really i just dont think its terribly practical
