Since there have been news of media regarding Fallout 3 I had a go with ps and some old pictures.

Critisism appreciated, especially on details.

By the way do anyone have a high-res image of a NS marine? Im thinking of doing something similiar.

The quality of the picture and what's pasted on differs a lot, I tend to resize things a big smaller and Photoshop Anti-Aliases them so they blend a little better.

Great positioning though. The shadow from the mask could be more realistic.

Aye, I tried to normalise/change the colors of the whole picture so it didnt look too obvious that the mask is pasted on, gotta work on that.

Shadows, shadows, shadows, their hard. I tried to manually apply a shadow with brushes but that looked way to edgy so to speak. In this I used "drop shadow" in blending options and adjusted the light source so it atleast looked somewhat like my own shadow plus the sliders for size and distance.

I gave it a shot, added some shadows and stuff:

Very nice Liku.
The main reason why it still doesn't look 100% right is because the ambient light on the mask doesn't fit with the rest of the picture (look on the helmet for example).

I bet you would had a easier time if you got to work with the unedited original then adding shadows ontop of my shadows? Nice work though, how did you do it?

@ Andos, Well, the best would be to make the mask from scratch then light it up accordingly, I guess a simple color replacement wouldn't look right.

I just took a black brush on a new later and put it in place of the shadows, then edited the opacity of the layer. Used a soft eraser tool to clean up the edges and not make it so "hard."
