basically, when you buildminimap, the engine should be able to tell where each individual location is, and its name. after it is finished with the actual minimap building, it should automatically add lables for them with the same text as official ns maps. this might take some extra coding, but the only thing i can think of that would go wrong is overlapping text. additionally, it should be a different command as buildminimap in case the map maker wants the minimaps out of it. i think it should be buildminimaplable or something like that. oppinions? comments?

If it is somehow possible, that'd be excellent. It could make the minimap files seperate into two(to be more practically). One is just the map itself, and the other file will be the lables where the actual rooms are(in the center, transparent).

It may not be completely accuracy, but it'll be better than none IMO.

It should be relatively feasible to code and get to work. If anything, it should take the center of the info_loc's and then maybe have a 'size' field in the loc. It would then draw the name on the minimap like mentioned.

This could potentially work, and by this method, it would be up to the mapper to properly position the location entities to get a good output. There's always the option to do it manually, which apparently isnt even that hard, but most mappers havn't taken the time to learn it.

Perhaps also adding in a 'info_vent' entity, which would not count towards runtime ents (like locations), but would make that part of the minimap be drawn red instead of the usual blue. Again, it can always be done manually, but these options would make the process of creating polished custom maps that much easier.
