Luv NS? H8 the standard crosshairs? While they work fine in this (very slick and innovative) mod i've decided to provide myself and u the viewer with an alternative. Right now with the latency problems precise aiming is a joke, but with the new patch hopefully this will come in handy. Just d-load and throw it into your ns/sprites folder. Then rename the file crosshairs.spr and BADA BING!

Take a look at the Omega in action here. <--Picture

D-load it here
(just save in your Half-Life/ns/sprites folder - then rename "crosshairsRED.spr" -> "crosshairs.spr" - it's that ez!)

Also a blue version for those that like everything color coordinated.

Take a look at the OmegaBLUE in action here. <--Picture

Let me know what u think of er' and give me any ideas or suggestions for what u would want in the future. It would not be hard to come up with a different crosshair for each weapon so if i get positive feedback i might just throw that together. We do custom work! Satisfaction Guaranteed wink.gif

*Hell yes i'm a huge DoD head, but i know a quality game when i c one. Especially one which focuses on teamwork like this and the in depth strategy involved (+ me likes to build stuff, tee hee perhaps that goes back to my TFC daze). i just can't beleive this is a beta 1!!*

the resolution!!!!!11

I don't like it. the whole marine hud is blue, and a red x-hair doesn't really fit. sorry.
Surge
Well make a red HUD then... tounge.gif

Ok dood guy sheesh. i kind of just rushed it all together after playing NS for like 4 hrs. straight so cut me some slack eh? Ok i've updated the picture and added TADAH! a blue version (i just feel red crosshairs are easier to keep track of in dark maps which would describe every NS map thus far) which (yes) i now like it so check em out and please try em b4 u knock em' :/.

Wow, a lot of people are going to NS from DoD.. whiskas, necro, icu, and nobody knows me, but me too.
Soulja-Rags

these are great, and i REALLY like the two colors, as I use blue for marine, and red for aliens. Nice job.

how do u rename those 2 sprites so the game uses them properly for the 2 teams?
0see3
Well, each is already named crosshairsred and crosshairsblu. In the weapons-whateverweapon.txt, you change this line:
CODE
crosshair  640 crosshairs 24 0 24 24
to a simple
CODE
crosshair  640 crosshairsred 24 0 24 24
or blue if it's for the marines. Not all weapons use the crosshair, such as mines, bites, slashes, but most things you need to aim at a tiny area, use one. Just open the weapons-whateverweapon.txt in your sprites folder and edit them accordingly. I liek the effect alot, and it fits. Nice xhair, very nice.
Necro
can i post these on nssprites?
Moleculor
How about one that's entirely blue, without the yellow arrows?

*bump*

now lets get those futuristic x-hairs u made for dod up here! (well maybe modify them a bit)
Unit
crosshair 640 crosshairsred 24 0 24 24

Are the 24 0 24 24 values the sizes, dimensions, colors, what are they?

The reason I'm asking is because I got these set of awesome crosshair sprites, but they are WAY too darn BIG! I mean I can't track a skulk if my crosshair COVERS HIM!
0see3
Not all customs use the same values as the default hl xhair. These do however, so you don't need to modify those values for these. Some of them are like 128 pixels HUGE and take up more of your screen than a skulk model might...

These are small, to the point, and don't take up any room. Absolutely perfect.
