i was going for a real chunky, techy look. added details much later. working just off the image in my head, i don't know how many times i re-modelled the chamber and the barrel. slide in open position is as far back as it comes. the biggest worry i have is what i should do with the back of the slide. i might post some wireframe pics later, if anyone shows an interest

More detail as, where the clip goes into the gun.. Make it hollow, where the gun blows back. make it see the bullet chamber.. make the berral hollow. like a real gun, if there is aempty space put it.

making the barrel hollow would be a waste of polies

you know i was just thinking the pistols like UT base weapon or SiNs pistol would look great aas a futuirsitic weapon replacement..too bad i cant model tho..

A clip can fit into a magazine. A magazine doesn't fit in a clip. There is a difference, and it does matter which one you say. Clips are something that the M-1 Garand (en bloc clip), Karabiner 98 Mauser (stripper clip), and M1903A4 Springfield (stripper clip) uses. A magazine is what most guns use today, i.e. Beretta 92f, M4A1, M-16, M14, AK-47, etc. etc.

On a Pistol its a Clip.
On a Assault rifle or SMG its a mag

BACK TO THE POINT. i will make the barrel hollow tonite (can't be bothered atm, and i'm lying on the floor with my laptop, so it isn't ideal position for modelling) if MS3d had booleans i would bother with the hollow grip, but i aint. its about 870 polys i think. i made the front chunkier, the slide a uniform thickness and added a few little bits of meaningless detail. made the grip mesh better with the frame, plus a heap of tweaks, double-face removing etc...

i haven't done smoothing groups yet, and won't until the model is practically done. although i would like some indication of anyone willing to mesh &/or skin it for me. animations... i'll have a go if no-one else will. i'm not going to continue too long if the project never gets finnished.

first thats the dumbest argument ever lol

second its a very good model only problem is as far as concept its nothing special. there are plent of scifi guns and this one isn't any different you have to make you work stand out do something no one has done b4 and give it a little larger barrel.

making it more like this would make it more stylized i think 45 degree angles are so redundant

Yep, en bloc clips for the M-1 Garand. Can't reload in the middle of a clip, but allows for fast reload. I love the M-1 Garand.

Dunno why everyone thinks the original NS hand gun is futuristic, because it is not. All it is, is a modified version of a Universal Self-loading Pistol (U.S.P.). Ok, I'm done.


Edit--That's, USP Match that I meant btw. WIth the added surpressor on the barrel.
