Counter Strike muzzle flash sprites work for NS. Yes I know, I shouldn't have brought up CounterStrike, heck even I dont like CS, but the guy wants help...

you cant fully delete it, i had a run in with making it not appear when you looked straight while doing the pulse rifle
you delete bone51 (attachment bone) and the muzzle flash will not appear on the barrel, but if you look down it will appear at your feet at an odd angle
as far as i know there is no way to eliminate it

To my knowledge this would be the same as editting the bite model of the skulk or lerk. An exploit like flayra said. I could be mistaken, but it's there for a reason...

not only that but it would give you a sever disadvantage on clan games because your not used to it.

Seriously though, how many people in a percentage actually play competitively? I'm guessing around 20%. So the whole "well you won't be used to it in a clan game" goes flying out the window. It needs to have the flash much smaller though because shooting once and having no idea where they went is pure crap. It's not so bad aside from skulks and lerks, but still needs to be smaller. This is the future, super novas aren't going to come from the end of the gun every shot.

I don't know what you people are griping about because, the muzzle flashes in NS don't obstruct my view. I can see where I'm shooting fine, and I've never had a problem with them.

what i mean is learn to use it, it's there for a reason, just like the jaws. BALANCE

Someone will most likely make a replacement sprite for the muzzle flash eventually. There is not point to argue about if it is an exploit or not. Unless the team locks the sprites then someone is going to change it.

How big of an advantage does a different muzzle flash sprite give you? Not a lot. Everything that can be changed in the game can give you an advantage. Most people who use custom models will not use them to exploit the game.
All i am saying is to cool the exploit talk. If someone posts something that is an obvious exploit or something that the dev team calls an exploit, then you can get into it.
People are making a ruckus of things right now when there doesn't need to be one. Take things as they come, don't make a problem when there isn't one.

i can see where an edited bite attack would be considered an exploit. but i fail to see how a muzzleflash would be considered an exploit... i see an exploit for muzzleflash as having a huge one so u can see it through walls.. not one that u cannot see anymore.. the bite attack edit is an exploit because the user can see when he could not before. the muzzleflash IMO is all eyecandy and would give no usuall advantage to the player if it is not displayed.

well, SovKhan, as the whole point of this topic was that the muzzle flash was obstructing the guy's view, then of course removing it will be an exploit and give him an unfair advatage.

Actually, Knuke said that he found the muzzle flash to be "big and ugly". He was asking if there was a smaller muzzle flash. It sounds to me to be more of a matter of taste than an actual gameplay issue.
Don't make problems where there are none.

you could decompile the model, and look in the qc and see what the spr attachment is called then just replace that spr with something you like (just swap the spr in the spr folder of ns with your new one with exactly the same name)
maybe that would work for you rather than the original ns spr

So balance is blinding the marine and not allowing him to aim? I'd rather have the default HL sprite. I can't aim with it. I don't see how people can aim with it. I'm blind as a bat, as I've said before.

Last game I played earlier today the sprite for the LMG bugged out and the muzzle was a 4 pointed star shape and WOW was it a lot better. No more skulks charging straight down a hall and not hitting them because you have no idea if they're dodging, running away, or about to eat your face. It put a little more skill in the game because the aliens had to go to guerilla tactics which made it a hella lot more fun. I'll put a picture of what the flash looked like soon as I can compress it and all that jazz.
