CALeague’s Natural Selection division is coming to a close. It’s been a great 10 seasons for all who were involved. I’d like to thank the developers for providing such an amazing game that has never received its rightful praise. I’d also like to thank the select players who have kept the league going while maintaining a high-level of professionalism. In addition, I’d like to thank all the CAL staff, past and present who have kept this division alive and well for so long.

I’d also like to thank the league’s past champions.
Season 1 – Evolution Revolution
Season 2 – Exigent
Season 3 – Exigent
Season 4 – Terror
Season 5 – Exigent
Season 6 – Terror
Season 7 – Terror
Season 8 – Obscure
Season 9 – Xensity
Season 10 – Damage Networks

CAL -ns has taught many things, teamwork, organization, cooperation, competition and so much more. Many players have gained friendships that they will keep for the rest of their lives through this game, and through CAL.

I remember my first time playing the game, it was Halloween 2003 – I hopped on a local west server and people were using voice communication in-game. The commander was actually using it to guide his team to the right locations. The map was on Eclipse and I had no idea what I was doing – the commander kept screaming “GET TO HORSESHOE!” And I wondered to myself – “Horsehoe?!?! What the hell is this guy talking about?” Then after walking around for a little bit, I noticed the location names – and finally found horseshoe and I’ve been playing this game ever since.

I really appreciate the effort that went into the game and the organizations surrounding it. Thanks to the #nslearn community – which outlasted the game’s official nsguide organization. The IRC channels that kept on the community together - #nspug, #findnsscrim. The public servers and communities that funneled new players into the competitive scene. All of you did an outstanding job in keeping such a small game alive and strong.

I’d like to point out that some ns players have moved onto bigger and better things within CAL. They have gone on to play for CAL-Invite Counter Strike and CS:Source teams, and even to win championships in those games. I hope that all you guys will move onto better things, not only in gaming – but in life. I will be continuing in helping out with other games in CAL (so you might see me around).

Sorry I didn’t use the template smile-fix.gif

Thanks for playing,
-Joshua Valensi (lynXij?)

Good game.

All good things have an ending. However even though I personally stopped playing arround the first version of ns 3.0 and never played for CAL (I only pubbed the game). I'm betting on it that CAL will be back for the next installment of NS (NS2/NS:S) The interest in the game is there and will remain, it's the suspence which is killing the community for NS1. Now the waiting game begins marine.gif

Well, at least we have this thread: Upcoming mapping release

Good!

But seriously folks, it will be missed. It's a major facet of the community (better or worse, that arguement is for another time) and "poof" it's now gone. confused-fix.gif

I'll have to have to watch the euroleague now, since CAL-NS is poft. Oh well...

NOOOOOOOO,

seriously though, I assume this is the nazi CPL/CAL admins telling us that even though we are able to keep a league together, that it is not worth the slot on their forum list anymore? Correct me if im wrong, but knowing the dedication of lynXij and others, this is probably the case. If the interest is still there was is to stop us from just setting up caleaguens.com and continuing as normal?

You almost got the topic right, just remove the CAL in front and that would be perfection. lerk.gif
