See the UWE front page news for details about this. Please read this before responding so our results are as accurate as possible.

Frank and construction discussion appreciated!

Notes to respond to general questions below:
- It's only $25 because ultimately this is an investment that's not guaranteed to pay off. If we go out of business without shipping NS2, your money (and our reputations and likely future careers!) are down the drain.
- We don't know what engine we'll be shipping on, but we could probably tell you if it was really important to a lot of people.
- The NS2 community will be built up out of the NS community and it's our hope that all the friendships you've made here will carry over (we'll preserve the forums, handles, post-counts, etc).
- I edited one of the options above, sorry if I changed your vote. The people that responded below seemed to agree with the general sentiment I changed it to, and it is much more useful for me to be specific.
- This is NOT a substitute for traditional investors a publisher, or good business partners. This is 'seed money' that could be useful for getting us in the best position we can be in when we do deal with these external forces.

I voted for 'further along in development'. I would love to see what direction NS is heading before throwing my money down. Is it going into a more RTS style, still a mixed hybrid or so on. I don't think I need the game in more development, I would probably just like to hear the style of game, but I'm pretty sure I will buy it regardless smile-fix.gif

I believe NS was a great start and have great faith in it's future and you, so yeah I'd definitely pre-order.

Sorta wondering why it would be so cheap though. I get that you're trying to get funding together and that there's a chance this might not get off the ground, but even so, isn't $25 a bit cheap?

Like any investment, there's risk, but it's definately worth it. I'd pre-purchase for sure.

- Assume that pre-purchasing the game now would cost you $25, and that the game would cost around $55 or $60 when it was released.
Do you meen that it would be $55 without the prepurchase and the prepurchase just takes $25 off the normal price?

My thoughts are very similar or identical to Comprox's. What engine it would use, what system requirements it would have, and all of those other technical questions aren't as important to me right now. I'm more interested in "Will I have as much fun with NS2 and its community as I've had for the past couple years here because of NS1's design?"

NS2 is not NS:Source, and nothing says NS2 would be on the source engine.

You misread his post. He said that system requirements weren't that important. I sort of see where he's coming from but the community can't be guaranteed by Flayra or anyone at this point; it's all up to us.

From Flayra's previous UWE post:

QUOTE
It will use a next-generation engine (like Source, Unreal Engine 3, etc.)

I don't really care what engine it's on as long as it looks and plays great, though I doubt I could run a Unreal Engine 3 game on my current computer.

I'm in the 'need more details' camp. Yes, I'll probably purchase NS:2 even if it ultimately is released as a single player game on the pong engine. But the details released on it so far are simply too sparse to justify spending cash on. If I had info on the progress thus far and the promise of continued good information about the development of the project, I'd feel a lot better shelling out for it.

I would and I wouldn't

One part of me says 'No way!' and another says 'I'd pay $50!' This is frustating. I would like to see it with a box and manual so I can say RTFM more... hehe...

Also would there be an 'epic' mode? Like 3 Marine squads vs the aliens in a large, more open environ?

And will there be more races of aliens and upgrades and marine stuffs. (I really think you covered almost everything already)

Onos Penetrating Rockets!
